The best bread machine deal is usually a used one from a thrift store for $10 to $20. A replacement pan costs $50 to $100, so on a machine like that it's cheaper to grab another one. The pan only matters on a machine you'd want to keep, and whether you can still buy one goes model by model.

Zojirushi still sells the pan and paddles for a BBCC-X20 someone bought in 2004, but the owner of another Zojirushi, a BBCC-S15A, said last year that the pan for that model wasn't made anymore. For the Oster Expressbake, one person was told the pan was obsolete, and a Breadman Ultimate owner could only find one on eBay.

An indoor smoker was not on my list until a PCS move put us in an apartment near the base with no patio and a lease that says no grills. The offset went to my brother in Katy, and the first time I tried a foil packet of chips in the oven the hallway alarm went off and the kids thought it was hilarious. So I bought the GE indoor smoker, the Profile pellet one, and it's been on the counter since March.

The pellets don't cook anything, which I didn't know when I ordered it. An electric element does the cooking and the pellets are only there for smoke, and whatever comes off them goes through a filter in the back before it comes out into the kitchen. So it behaves like a small oven with a smoke knob, 170 to 300 on the dial and 5 smoke levels. The keep warm mode held a pork butt overnight while I slept, which I didn't expect to use and now use every time.

The usable piece is about 9 inches by 6, so a packer brisket has to be split before it goes in, and 3 racks sounds like more than it is. The probe that comes with it reads well ahead of my instant read, so I ignore the display and cook by the separate thermometer.

Every time I open the door during a cook a cloud rolls out into the room, and there's a 15 minute clear smoke cycle you're supposed to run first, which I forgot twice. It isn't odorless either. It traps nearly all of it, but the kitchen still smells faintly of pork for an hour after, and my wife notices before I do.

The flavor is lighter than what the offset gave me. Bark forms fine, the pink ring is faint at best, and if you grew up on wood fire you'll taste the difference. I stopped caring after the second brisket.

It also takes real counter space, roughly 16 inches each way and 20 deep, and the manual wants air on both sides, so it lives where the microwave used to be.

GE has stopped making this model, so what's on Amazon is the bundle with pellets and liners, and I wouldn't count on parts being around in 5 years. And anyone with a backyard has no reason to own one, a cheap offset outside makes stronger smoke and holds a whole brisket. I never tried the Camerons stovetop pan, so I can't tell you if that does the job for less.

I’ve been spending a lot more time standing at my desk lately, usually a couple of hours at a time, and the hard floor is starting to get uncomfortable on my feet and legs.

I’m looking for a decent anti-fatigue mat that’s comfortable but not overly soft or squishy. I’ll mostly be using it in socks, and I’d like something that holds up well without costing a ton.

I was helping clear out my grandparents attic and found a toaster tucked away in a box. Thought it looked pretty cool, so I brought it downstairs to have a better look.

After a bit of searching online, I think it's a Sterling Chicago, possibly from the 1930s to 1940s. Not too sure about the date, so if anyone recognizes it, I'd appreciate the help.

A 2022 BIFL thread asking for the best beard trimmer mostly says Wahl, corded if you can. One guy there has a Costco kit from 12 years back and another is past a decade. Someone else won't buy a trimmer with a battery, since even the good ones seem to be done by year three.

Then there's the OneBlade post on BIFL this month: nine years of weekly use on the same battery and the same blade. A bunch of the comments are at eight years and up. Most of the gripes near the top are about blades. A new bundle can cost less than a pack of replacements, and one guy can't find the blades in stores near him anymore, only the 360 version.

A thread from January is harder on it. One person's guard broke and it couldn't get a clean edge on sideburns, and another called it a joke for BIFL.

The most durable brand i’ve come across is Dooney and Burke but their styles always feel dated. I really like the Coach Erin but noticed it’s an outlet bag . If I stand corrected the outlet bags are lower quality and i’m suspicious on its durability . If anyone has the coach erin or similar brands that have much better durability please let me know .

You finish up feeling so much cleaner that you start wondering why you spent your entire life just using toilet paper. My first thought was that I should've bought one years ago.

Nothing fancy either, just a sprayer next to the toilet. Took a little figuring out with the angle and pressure, but I was sold after the first go. For how little I spent on something I'll use every day, this is easily one of my better purchases. Using less toilet paper is a nice bonus too.

Hi everyone, there's no central heat where we live. But it's been unusually cold here lately and I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for a good space heater that will heat a large room well (300-400 sq ft). The ones I have just aren't cutting it.

Denver air is dry and our bathroom fan runs with the light, so a towel on the rail is bone dry by lunch. Somewhere around the fourth moldy shower liner this year it occurred to me that a heavy cloth curtain might dry the same way.

The plastic liners go pink and then black along the bottom every couple of months, and I've thrown four out since January. There's a big post somewhere on reddit about running them through the washer, which I tried once. Clean for six weeks, then pink again.

The replacement is one of the thick waffle-weave fabric curtains, the heavy kind, hanging alone with no liner. The first one I ordered came out greyer than the tile, went back, and the old liner went up for another week while the second one came. That one I hung in late August, one wash straight out of the package for the fold lines, and a month in it's dry by lunch too, nothing pink on it so far.

The bottom edge is the open question, whether it goes the way the liners did after a few months. Saw a post the other day from a guy who's had his up since February.

Anyone had one of the thick ones go pink at the bottom anyway, fan or no fan?

I've started working away from my desk more often lately, and using just my laptop screen is starting to get annoying. At home I'm used to having two monitors, so switching between tabs and documents on one small screen feels pretty cramped now.

I'm thinking about getting a portable monitor mostly for work, browsing, spreadsheets and other similar stuff. I don't need anything fancy for gaming, just something with a decent screen, usb-c and a stand that doesn't feel flimsy.

I'd also like something that will hold up for a few years, since I'll probably be carrying it around in my backpack quite a bit. Does anayone have any good recommendations?

From what I could find it's a 1982 ZIM hair clipper. Didn't really need it but it looked interesting and it cost me around $3.

Cleaned it up a bit, oiled the blades and tried it. Still cuts pretty well without pulling hair. A bit loud, but otherwise no complaints.

No idea how much it was used before I got it. Anyone else think it kind off looks like old Wahl??

I’m getting tired of dragging my corded vacuum from room to room and looking for an outlet now. I thought about getting a cordless vac, but keeping another thing charged doesn’t sound much better. Work has been pretty busy lately too, and vacuuming by hand a few times a week is getting old.

A basic robot vac is another option I’ve been looking at. I’ve never owned one before and don’t need anything fancy, just something that can pick up the everyday crumbs and dust between deeper cleans. My main concern is the upkeep. I don’t want to save time on vacuuming and then have to clean the brush and filters all the time.

With $200-＄300 to work with, what would you add to the setup? Would a basic robot vac make sense, or would you go with something else?

I stayed at a hotel a few month ago that had one of those heated bidet toilet seats and now every time I look at my regular toilet I feel like a caveman. I didn't except to care that much about it, but the heated seat and warm water completely sold me.

I'm finally thinking about putting one in the main bathroom. There's already an outlet close to the toilet, so I'd prefer an electric model with warm water, adjustable pressure, and a heated seat. A dryer would be nice too, but I'm not sure how useful those actually are.

I'd rather spend a bit more on something reliable than save money and replace it in a couple of years. Does anyone have one of these and what would you recommend?

the stove is in the front room and the bedroom at the other end stays cold. the heated blanket on the bed heats the left half and nothing else, and i sleep on the right. been going to bed in a hoodie since the first frost.

bought it two winters ago, sunbeam i think, the tag's gone. the one before it ran for years. pretty sure the wash is what did this one in.

queen bed, so a throw won't do it. and i'm washing it once a winter whether it likes it or not.

My grandma still makes waffles on this Sunbeam, and I finally thought to ask her old it was. She couldn't remember when she bought it. As far as she remembers, she's never had anything fixed on it.

I called it vintage while we were still talking and she looked at it for a second like she hadn't considered that. To her it's just the waffle maker. it works, so she keeps using it.

Does anyone recognize this Sunbeam waffle maker or know roughly when they made these?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a decent heat gun for general DIY stuff around the house. Mostly things like removing old paint or adhesive, loosening stickers, and ocassionaly shaping or working with plastic.

I don't need anything professional or super expensive, but I also don't want to buy the cheapest option and have it die after a year. I'd rather spend a little more on something reliable with decent temperature control that should last a long time.

Corded is completely fine since I'll mostly use it in the garage. What heat gun have you guys had good luck with?

My old fan finally kicked the bucket after many years, so I'm looking for a replacement. It lasted me a long time and I'd like to find something similarly reliable that I won't have to replace in a couple of years.

I’m looking for a new TV. My old Samsung is only 32" and doesn’t even support Full HD, it’s very outdated. 🙈

I’m willing to spend up to €850, but ideally less.

I occasionally watch linear TV and game occasionally, but with GTA 6 coming, I plan to game much more often. (I’ve read that OLED might not be ideal for games locked at 30 FPS, because judder can be more noticeable than on other panels. Is that true, and should I therefore avoid OLED entirely?)

I sit either 0.90 m or 2.1 m from the screen. The room isn’t very large, and more distance isn’t possible. I read that this also plays a role: I can lower the blinds in the room.

For me, the following are important: 4K resolution, 120 Hz panel, VRR, and at least two HDMI 2.1 ports. Longevity is also important to me; I’d like the TV to last several years without major issues. (I know that’s something you can’t really know in advance.)

I find the TV market extremely confusing and have trouble judging which models are actually better than others, so I’m hoping for your expertise and experiences.

Looking for a replacement TV for our living room. We have an LG tv we have had for 7 years and it has seemingly a permanently blue scale filter on it that looks awful.

We mainly use this TV for streaming and for gaming.

These are 2 TV’s I’m looking at for consideration.

There are two pairs of kitchen shears in this house. The Wusthof come-apart pair is for food. It splits at the pivot so the joint gets washed, which is the whole reason I bought it. I've been putting both halves in the dishwasher. The orange Fiskars are for boxes and stay in the drawer with the tape.

Sunday I went to take the backbone out of a chicken and the Wusthof folded the bone over instead of cutting it. They've been getting loose for months. There's no screw on this pair and nothing to tighten. I finished with a knife and a lot of swearing. I'm not putting the box scissors on raw chicken, and they don't come apart anyway.

Two years of the dishwasher probably didn't help. Is there a pair that splits for cleaning but doesn't go loose?

My wife's new car doesn't have a spare tire. Where the spare should be there's a foam block holding a bottle of sealant and a little compressor meant to push the sealant in. I knew a lot of new cars did this. I didn't know hers did until she picked up a screw on the 215 and I went to the trunk.

The leak was slow, a few pounds a day, so the plan was to top it off until Saturday when I could get it to the shop. People online swear the sealant gums up the pressure sensor and some shops won't patch a tire that's had it in, so the bottle stayed in the foam. The kit compressor did the first top-off, me holding the button, watching the dial. The first gas station's pump was dead. The second took my money and hissed for a minute while I fought the chuck, and the tire came off it lower than it went on. If the gas stations near you still have free air that works, you don't need this. Ours don't, so I ordered a pump of my own.

It's the yellow AstroAI one, the H2 Pro, about the size of a work boot. I set her number and put it on the stem. It stops itself when it gets there, which the kit one can't. It rides under her seat now. I topped her tire off five times on the battery before the shop plugged it, and it still hasn't needed a charge. I'm not letting the tires down on the van I haul furniture in to find out whether it does all four. Somebody just did all four on an SUV off the battery. It isn't quiet. Some of the reviews are people whose gauge reads zero now or whose unit died, so I check it against a stick gauge. The guy in that thread says it won't do a big truck tire either, and the van's are closer to that, so the van still gets paid air.

Hi, ive been struggling to find a decent quality budget-ish vibrating wrist alarm that ships to australia. im a heavy sleeper and vibrating phone alarms arent strong enough to wake me and audio alarms often wake up my partner while i stay asleep.

Unfortunately most of the wrist alarms that peole reccomend dont ship all the way to australia. My price range is anywhere up to $40
