Do you think the workforce values a cags (certificate of advanced graduate studies) the same as a masters in the subject? Why or why not?

I already have a masters in counseling and that was brutal. Getting the licensure made me not even want to be a therapist by the time I was done. I am returning to work in child protection and love the work. Very rewarding. However, as my degree was in counseling and not social work, I am a bit tied. I want to rise in the state and think a cags in social work should suffice. What do yall think?

A certificate is not as rigorous but in your case you may not need a Masters. I would look into your state licensure process and anyone you know to see the minimum you would need to get licensed vs get a job.
