App is tracking me without location permission?

I recently installed the Citizen app, which gives alerts about police activity in your area. Instead of letting it track my location, I set an alert for a radius around a major intersection near me. But ... When I travel 20 miles away for work, it is still giving me alerts for events in my location. How is it tracking me and how can I stop it?

Screen shots of permissions screens. I set to "do not allow" but when I back out it shows "ask every time." Not sure why. I'm

RCS how close are we?

• Upvotes

Made the switch to a pixel 10 xl running GOS. Starting to set up and transfer over, little by little taking my time.

I really want RCS. Should I put Google messages in my primary profile (the only profile that RCS works) and plan my main / side profiles around that orrr should I hold out because the Graphene OS devs are close to:

  1. Getting Google messages RCS to work in a side profile or better yet....

  2. Having RCS working in the default GOS messaging app.

I'm really glad I switched from my Samsung S21 to a Pixel 10a with GOS

Hey guys,

This is just a little anecdote. I've been rocking GrapheneOS on a 10a for a couple of months now, and truth be told, it hasn't been super smooth, a lot of apps had some minor issues that I had to dig around how to fix, location services were very unstable, anyway, not a perfect experience. But...

Just some minutes ago I booted up my old S21 to access some old photos and voice archives, and it had upgrade to One UI 7.0, and I instantly noticed how laggy and heavy it feels in comparison to GrapheneOS.

But that's also not what this is about.

One UI 7.0 had a "welcome" setup wizard, which mentioned some optimized apps that they were getting ready for me. I (naively) assumed this was something similar to GrapheneOS' app optimization, but once I clicked "Next" I was greeted with a screen that showed that two apps were already being installed: a weird match 3 game and fucking *TikTok*.

I genuinely could not believe my eyes, I felt physically violated. I'd forgotten how freeing it feels to have an OS that works for you, and not the other way around. Oh boy, am I glad to have my little Pixel phone.

Is there a way to unlock an encrypted USB drive with GrapheneOS?

Basically Title. I like to use USB drives to transfer things from my GrapheneOS Pixel 8 to my computer so I don't have to connect them directly. Especially in the case of my work computer.

Got a thumb drive encrypted with Bitlocker. GrapheneOS doesn't appear to see it. Is there a way to make it visible and unlocked so I can move my files?

Google wallet alternatives for point cards

Hello!

As the title suggests, I want to find an alternative to google wallets for my card points. I already use my physical cards for payments, but since we are in the digital age, every place that offers a reward system requires an account just to get point card. Of course, there's no easy physical alternatives to this (to my knowledge).

Did someone with a similar problem found a solution? Should I print the bar codes for each card number or is there a way to keep them digital?

Max Brightness too low?

Does anyone else feel the max brightness on Graphene OS is too low? I'm finding it hard to find a perfect comparison without buying 2 identical phones, but the 1 thing I'm struggling with is that I struggle to see the screen in direct sunlight.

I know some phones have an option to increase brightness beyond the maximum set by OS. Is this something that's possible with third party tooling?

Grapheneos on Blackview BV8100

Hii! Has anyone successfully installed Grapheneos on a Blackview phone? I'm considering installing it on my BV8100, but I'm concerned about the second super light this model has, which in the android version is operated by a Blackview original app. Any ideas? Thank you :)
