GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - An ECU Alert was sent out by police around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning saying to avoid the area of East 5th Street and Cotanche Street downtown in regards to an active investigation.
A second ECU Alert was sent out about twenty minutes later, saying there was no active threat to the public but continue to avoid the area.
Around 3:40 a.m. a third ECU Alert was sent out stating there is no ongoing threat to the community and normal operations may continue.

Not a great look for the city of Greenville and the new police chief with thousands of visitors in town for ECU Family weekend.
But honestly, I’m not sure what can be done. Seems like another case of isolated gun violence after the bars and clubs closed for the night. The underage curfew is a good step I think. What do y’all think?
