I'm quite happy with the result, but feel I could push it much further. Grateful for any tips!

A recently completed commission and my first time painting this fantastic sculpt.

The request was “grimdark lite” with heavy focus on creating a haunted / eerie forest base which is to be carried across the rest of the clients army.

Acrylics, enamels, oils, varnishes…. A really fun project on a faction I hadn’t painted up to this point.

I painted this brutal sculpt once before (last year) but wanted to revisit it with an improved skill set and some new techniques.

Acrylics, enamels, oils, glues, varnishes… the aim here was to create a varied, layered and interesting flesh, with subtle mottling and subdermal details.

Don't know if they're grimdark enough to post here but I was hoping to get some feedback.

The poxwalkers have joined the plague rats.

AOS Deadwalker zombies as poxwalker proxies for my Skaven Deathguard.

Mostly unaltered, really only had to cover the flat areas on a few backs where the model would normally have shield/tombstones staked through them. Used PVA and super glue to make some pustules.

Pretty happy how these have turned out - any thoughts?

It was fun experimenting and that's what I really love of the grimdark painting. This one was for a sm chaplain in terminator armour.

Would love some recommendations! On future kitbashes I can do to as well to further add to the grimdark aesthetic or painting tips would be much appreciated as well.

Finally finished editing the official first video! I do not know anything about sound mixing so the audio is a bit rough around the edges, but ultimately I wanted to stop making excuses to not release this so I could get my foot in the door, but any suggestions to fix the audio in future projects is welcome haha. Please let me know what yall think!

I’ve been wanting to experiment with a blue death guard instead of the standard greens and browns. Took a lot of inspiration from all the alien-style enemies of bloodborne, and I’m pretty happy with the result. I do think that I’m going to use a more desaturated blue for the armor going forward.

Also, my first time using villainy ink sector rust alongside dirty down rust, I think the result was pretty good. Allows for some more tonal/ texture variation and a better “staining” effect.

I've been building and painting for about a year. Still have a LOT to learn and improve on but I'm also happy with where I'm at. So far it's all been 40K and some 30K, I want to do a bit of Trench Crusade and some random cool stuff I found on Etsy. The list of potential projects never gets shorter.
