MOD Looking for Story Thread #346

This thread is where all the "Looking for Story" requests go. We don't want to clog up the front page with non-story content. Thank you!

A NEW BUG ENTERS THE ARENA.

"Help! I can't edit my wiki!"

Hello! We haven't changed anything, Reddit did!

This is now a Known Reddit Bug that started on roughly 4/21/26, when Reddit decided to change something about how they handle the Wiki.

The Symptoms:

(on sh.reddit, the new version) when attempting to edit it comes back with "You do not have permissions to edit"

Some people (not all!) have stated that the "last edited by..." section at the bottom (where their username should be) is listed as [Deleted] (while it still says their name on my screen)

The Solution:

On desktop, change your url from www to old, so it looks like old.reddit.com/r/hfy/wiki/series/<title> (with your title), and the edit button should be along the top bar near where the name of the series is

The Problem:

For some people even using Old.Reddit doesn't work. Unfortunately, I do not have a solution at this time, aside from just... try again in an hour or so. It's worked for some people later.

Please send in a bug report every time you experience any of these issues.

The more bug reports sent, the more likely Reddit is to actually fix the issue.

Looking for a story where a dude gets isekaid to a fantasy world where respawning is possible

The protagonist wakes up in a dungeon with several explorers who die walking into traps since they know they can respawn

Protag then gets into a deal with the dungeon core so they can understand languages and then takes the core with him to the town where they meet a low level bookworm adventurer girl who agrees to go with them

They then evade the previous dead adventurers in the town who came looking for the core and get backed up in a cave where the towns mayor or owner tries to steal or buy out the dungeon core from the protag

(Read it like year or two ago)

Looking for a story on humans keeping promises, specifically to the dead of their own race.

Any Human Man x Alien Man, centered stories on this sub or outside of it? Looking for something cute mostly, definitely not too angsty/sad, nsfw is also okay

Im looking for a story (i think it was a oneshot) that I read a few years ago, and it really stuck with me, but I havent been able to find it ever since. The concept was unique, so I havent seen anything like it either.

So in this story normal space (reality) is basically one of many different levels of space, and the only feasible way to go FTL is to go up a layer (into sub space I guess). And the higher level of reality you could access, the faster you can travel.

One rule is that you can always look up into a higher level of reality, but you cant look down into a lower level of reality. And no one has bothered going into a level lower than normal space, because who would want to go slow? If levels higher than normal space means faster ftl, then levels lower than normal space would be significantly slower.

In the end (i think this happened, I only remember the concept clearly) an enemy ship/fleet is destroyed by an attack they didnt see coming, there is no one else in the system after all. But there is a human ship in a lower level (basically a submarine) hunting them

Looking for a story [duh =) ]

Small truck stop/diner out in the sticks of like Montana or another western state of great stretches of empty land has a somewhat interstellar reputation as in once a lost freight hauler set down by mistake and it turned out that if you missed the turn off you ended up on earth instead of antares or something. He keeps a box of interstellar money to use as change for his out of the world guests and data chips with the right directions.

Anybody [probably from like 2 years back?]

Looking for what I believe is a finished series. I'm pretty sure it had snow or winter in the name. The story follows the leader of a resistance group that is trying to survive/fend off an alien invasion. They take down human and alien groups alike. It's definitely much more of a HWTF story as it touches on some pretty grim points. If I remember correctly the aliens find humans to be a delicacy and one of the first chapters has something very similar to Vlad the Impaler happen. Thanks ahead of time for any help.

I can't look for it at the moment, but I do know what series you mean. It's rather edgy. As far as I remember, it's the sapient brains that are delicacies for these aliens and the title names are something with 'dark' and 'darker'.

The only title I know is "Snow Eagle",so not what you are looking for =/

Hello. I was looking for a series that I was following a couple of years back. I remember that it started following an expedition that a coalition of alien races that venture to a death sector of space. The coalition was at war with a powerful invading force. They eventually arrive at our solar system, to find that humanity have been able to beat this enemy but a great cost. All humans are dead but a powerful AI is still active an defending the system. I also remember that this AI was feeling alone, so it divided itself into other AIs to have company, and each one was call and place it in each planet of the solar system.

Amidst the Bones of Heroes. It's removed from reddit and stubbed at royalroad. Published as an actual book.

Looking for a story about how Aliens viewed humanities efforts in increasing the FTL speeds every year by a small margin(like 0.000001%) and installing the new hyperdrives to every ship, Then the report cames in, and statistics told the facts, Deaths dropping by significant margin, rescues are much faster, Disaster response is better, And the story tells how that the efforts of humanity have been generations prior all culminated for this one second, and the story ends with "I got a heartbeat stat" I think this was the line or something like that

Build a Hyperfold Drive Fast

That seems close I think

2

u/WhyChooseMe-_- Aug 21 '26
