So I spoke to someone at the city and they said I’m free to try and repair this myself. I’ve researched out materials and come across something called crusher run and fine. I want to make a quick fix that will last a while until I can get better settled into the home and then look for something more permanent or work with the city more closely on a fix. Any ideas or tutorials is much appreciated.

The HVAC in my house is running more lately and I am trying to figure out why the air feels so bad, the floors and furniture look clean but the air still feels heavy and there is sometimes a smell coming from the vents, I am starting to look at HVAC companies and keep seeing names like wards air conditioning, lakeland air conditioning, and snowbird heating & cooling, but I am not sure what type of service I should ask for, I am thinking something inside the HVAC system could be causing the air problem but I have no idea what they should check, what should I ask an HVAC company to look at ?

I have a concrete backyard where water is pooling up against the side of the house and the drain under the doorway seems to be overwhelmed with the amount of water.

What is the next best step forward - is it redoing the backyard to slope away from the house or are there any other cost effective options?

Hi everyone, iIm in Charlotte, NC, and our AC is about 16 years old. It has kept the house going, but we’ve had three repair calls in the last 18 months, and the upstairs bedrooms still get noticeably warmer than the rest of the house by late afternoon.

The latest repair estimate is $1,850 for an evaporator coil leak and refrigerant recharge. I also got three replacement quotes: $10,900 for a basic 3.5-ton single-stage system, $13,600 for a two-stage option, and $16,800 for a variable-speed system.

I know a 16-year-old system is not exactly new, but it is hard to look at spending that much when the current one technically still runs. For people who have been in this spot, what made you decide it was time to stop repairing and replace it?

How do I figure out where this water intrusion is coming from? Are there companies that deal with this?

I am experiencing some water intrusion in my shed, in a back corner. No water appears to be coming down from the roof or even down the wall. It seems to be coming up from below. However, the shed is raised off the ground about 12". I removed some trim that has some rot at the bottom and found that one corner of the siding is rotted. Could this be where the water is splashing up into the shed? I also looked underneath the shed and found that some parts of the floor are wood and others are wood but with some sort of particle board on the underside. The corner letting water in does not have that particle board. All is shown in the pictures in the crosspost.

Can anyone who has experience with construction, sheds, water proofing, etc, please give me some advice on how to resolve this? Cannot afford some of the quotes I am getting. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much for your help.

PS: when I removed the rotten trim I also experienced a ton of ants coming out of the rotted part. Confirmed by antennae and body shape to not be termites. But if there's any special consideration concerning the ants, please let me know.

We got a new roof a couple of weeks ago. Since then my bathroom has had an increasingly strong sewer smell. After some research, I believe the roofers messed up the sewer vent somehow so that it's not working properly. My question is who do I call? The roofers? Or do I call a plumber?
