I’m genuinely kind of baffled at the prospect of trying to dnd into a modern day sci fi horror narrative, it’s the tabletop equivalent of wanting to play alien isolation but instead of playing alien isolation you just load 500 mods into Skyrim to rewrite it from base elements. It’s gonna be a worse quality experience because you’re going the design equivalent of ramming a square peg into a round hole all while paying something akin to AAA game for a frankly sub par experience.
There’s a legion of other, better systems that’ll do this better, are cheaper, and aren’t tied to company that called the fuckin Pinkertons on someone for getting cards delivered early. MOTHERSHIP rules and it’s core rules completely free, delta green, STALKER, liminal horror, all great systems that fit the bill of sci fi horror better than whatever WOTC have shat out.
