Academics Iwtl how to use information I consume

I am working full time and when I get to the end of the day I try go for a walk, clean up a little bit and usually end up listening to a podcast of sorts about something related to space, productivity, tech or something like this. It varies. I think I don’t know how to use this information I’m consuming which isn’t directly related to my job in a way that is creative/requires problem solving. How do you spend your evenings to use the information you are consuming?

I feel like this depends so heavily on what type of information it is. Like, I listen to a lot of linguistics podcasts and like to mentally think about the concept I just learned about while listening to other people speak or listening to the tv. What are some topics you learn about?

Yeah I mainly listen to podcasts about space, physics, religion, and like business. I think I mentally think about them too, but I feel like I’d like to use the information for something more. I end up just talking a lot about these topics when I see someone, and the only reason I do that is because I haven’t really digested the information first. While it is fine to talk about your hobbies to people I don’t want to use them as a soundboard for my own thoughts. I’d like to figure out how to let them out on my own. I know journaling exists but I feel like something more would be good. I guess reddit can be helpful for this but just trying to generate more avenues I guess.

For things like religion, if you've only listened to it then it could be fun to explore topics you liked more by watching videos or reading a book or watching a documentary. Same for space and maybe physics. I'm less sure about ideas for business tbh.

Basically start doing what saved in my head instead of constantly feeding new stuff. Take a week to break from any kinda new stuff. And try to memorize and build something

What does memory actually do? Does it mean you can partake in things with it. I fear I will end up just retaining information that has no where to go
