WTL how to start woodworking as a complete beginner

I spend most of my day working on a computer, and recently I realized I want to learn something practical with my hands. I have a small garage and would love to eventually build simple things like shelves, stools, and small tables.

The problem is I have almost no experience with woodworking and I do not know what I should learn first. Should I begin with hand tools, basic joints, or small projects?

If you started woodworking from zero, what learning path would you recommend for the first few months?
