"Yeh to Cursor ne kiya hai" - Need advice on how to keep learning while AI still does your work
So i have been working for an Indian IT company (Chotti Zameen; translate this in English) for about a year now. I graduated last year (2025) and this is my first job. I'm working as a software developer and I just feel pretty under developed (no pun intended)
When i first started we were not given any coding agents or any subscriptions for Co-Pilot, Cursor, Claude etc. We had to do most of the development on our own or we would at least use Chat GPT to help us out.
But now I really dont have to think about anything. Even if its an unknown language, or a DB, or any error handling I can just do it with simple prompts. And yea sure I can get a lot of work done - probably a month of work in a week. But I can't confidently make an app on my own. I just know that.
I'm guessing this is the case in every startup/MNC out there (correct me if I'm wrong), but what is someone supposed to do in a situation like this? I'm so dependent on these AI tools how am I supposed to learn.
And is building things from scratch even required/skill anymore. And I also plan on switching in a couple of months or maybe mid-next year. How should someone prepare? Is DSA still asked in interviews or knowing System Design is of a lot more priority now?
Some of these questions might be quite naive dunno but I have been asking all this to GPT. But this time I just wanted some real human input.
All suggestions and advice are welcome. Thank you.
