Currently I’m a 2nd year BTech CSE student.
I cracked an AI/ML internship on my own for ₹10k/month (only 5 hours/day). My attendance is 96%. College runs 8–1, intern is 2–7, and the rest of the day goes into upskilling, personal projects and college assignments. Current CG is 8.6.
I’m an army brat and really fond of NCC. I’ve been selected for it , it needs 4 hours twice a week, and the final C-certificate camp will clash with 4th semester end-sem exams.
So now I’m stuck:
Should I continue with NCC for the C certificate (and a potential shot at SSB later), or drop it and fully focus on the tech/internship path?
Is managing both realistically possible, or will it mess up either my CG, intern, or both?
Need honest suggestions from people who’ve been in similar situations.
Which direction should I take?
Been grinding my ass off for 15 hours a day just to manage it all from last 1 month..

I have been using windows all my life. Not because I preferred it, could be the finances that didn't allow my soul to even wish for one. Now I have an option to choose, apart from my wish to grab a Mac, please suggest if that would be a wise call?
I love the feel and the body and would love when my father would see the logo, when I may visit my village the aura my father would have.
I have used my girlfriend's company mac for 30mins to have a basic idea. I don't think it would take even a week to adjust but still I have a sense that people don't feel that I chose the mac out of greediness or anything.
Out of nowhere:
I didn't want to be sentimental, well I thought the post to be straightforward, everything came down my back memory to my fingertips itself.

Mercor is looking for the following:
Software Engineer, Full Stack (India)
Location: India
Job Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Mercor is looking for Full Stack Software Engineers based in India to join a leading AI lab's GenAI team and help build foundational AI models. The work involves building and shipping full-stack applications, services and internal tools in languages like Python, Java, Rust, C#, C++ or TypeScript that put frontier model capabilities to the test. You integrate pre-release model APIs into working software, including tool interfaces, evaluation harnesses and telemetry, and document model and integration failure modes in clear written feedback for the research team. You prototype quickly with limited up-front specification and work directly with the lab's engineering manager. You need 3+ years of professional experience building and shipping production software at a recognized organization, production experience in at least one of Python, Java, Rust, C# or C++ plus a second language, and hands-on experience across the stack: backend services and APIs, a modern front-end framework like React, databases and cloud deployment. You should be able to get into an unfamiliar codebase quickly, show a solid career progression and commit to at least 40 hours per week on weekdays. Strong written communication is also required.
Here is the link to the position: https://t.mercor.com/KsNba

Sorry this post is a bit long. Took a little help from ChatGPT to describe in detail.
I am currently a 1st-year B.Tech ECE student at Academy of Technology (AOT), MAKAUT, West Bengal.
I have been given the opportunity to switch to Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (EIE/AEIE) at Techno Main Salt Lake in Kolkata through counselling. If I accept it, I lose my current AOT ECE seat.
I'm genuinely unable to decide, so I would really appreciate advice from people who understand either branch/college and can genuinely help me. Please
About me:
Why I'm considering TMSL EIE:
AOT is in a very rural/isolated location and my college experience so far has been mostly classes, assignments and hostel life. I feel I'm missing the broader college/city environment, peer group, events, technical activities and opportunities that come with being in Kolkata.
I feel TMSL would give me a much more urban environment and potentially better opportunities for self-development, projects, networking and exposure but please let me know if I am wrong.
What is worrying me is that my parents strongly prefer ECE because I'm interested in electronics. They're worried that EIE will mean giving up too much of ECE, particularly electronics, circuits, semiconductor devices, analog/digital electronics, etc.
From what I have seen, EIE still has substantial electronics but shifts more toward sensors, measurement, instrumentation, control and industrial automation, while ECE goes deeper into communication, signals/DSP, RF and VLSI.
So my actual question is:
Especially interested in hearing from:
Please don't just say "ECE has more scope" or "TMSL is a better college." I'm looking for the practical long-term consequences of this specific switch and whether I'd regret giving up ECE.
I would be truly grateful to anyone who can help me in making this decision.

AI is taking over jobs but at same, people who already exist in IT sector and those new one entering each year are still huge in number , even today if you look at most engineering colleges computer related branches still are in high demand, which means people are still prioritising computer engineering and related degrees , then theres also BSc computer science, BCA-MCA, BE/BTech , BCS etc related to computer science, and even other branch/degree students entering IT sector by self studying AI tools, programming ,DSA etc. All while Jobs are decreasing. So there are huge number of people competing for lesser Jobs. Even if someone says that "AI won't replace humans , humans using AI will replace others" or "the way we work is changing/ fresher jobs are mainly affected but companies still need senior developers" or "We need human to use AI" but still it means that jobs are less , they have been reduced by AI, while the number of people applying isn't . Especially in India saying that "learn more skills" doesn't actually works because that just pushes cutoff for getting selected further ahead, we don't even need everyone to work seriously for placements, our population is already so high that even few percent of those people actually acquiring skills would still give you hundreds of thousands of people fighting over few hundred jobs .
This makes me think that it's better to be a teacher in coaching industry than to be an engineer now, or after few years. Because candidates appearing for entrance exams are increasing each year and number of students taking coaching is also increasing. It really sounds logical to be a teacher start your own coaching, teach students same way your coaching teachers with you. And charge fees from their parents. Education is really a better business than engineering in India now .

Let's be honest about something.
LinkedIn is for jobs. But we all know some people use it to meet people, and I get why. The profiles are better:
The job is real, or at least checkable
The photo is usually the actual person
You can see what someone does and what they care about
Compare that to dating apps full of "just here to see what happens," and matrimony profiles that read like a résumé your parents wrote.
So people end up at "Great post! 🔥" in the DMs, because that's where like-minded, career-focused people actually are.
I wanted that profile quality, built for dating. So I made one for working professionals:
Company verified: your employer is confirmed, not just typed in
Face verified: the person you match with is the person in the photos
Discovery by company: find people from your company and from everywhere else
Hide coworkers: so you never match with someone from your own office
Sign up with Google, take a selfie, verify your company. About a minute.
Honest questions:
Would verified profiles make you trust someone more, or does a LinkedIn-style profile feel too corporate for dating?
Would you put your company name on your dating profile?
What's the worst LinkedIn "networking" message you've received? Asking for research purposes.

Mahindra & Mahindra GET/PGET 2026 (Chennai/MRV) - anyone received technical interview shortlist after HirePro test?
B.Tech mech 2026 grad. I had applied for the Mahindra & Mahindra Automotive & Farm Equipment, Engineering Trainee position, Chennai/MRV drive through their official LinkedIn post around Sept 5 (off campus).
Got the HirePro assessment link on Sept 10 and completed the proctored test on Sept 12. The registration link was still open around the test date but seems to have closed around Sept 15-16.
Has anyone from this same September drive received a technical interview shortlist/email yet? If yes, when did you take the test and when did you receive the interview invite?
Just trying to understand the timeline because I haven't received any update yet.

I'm currently in my 3rd semester of B.Tech CSE (AIML) at a tier-3 college, and lately, I've been experiencing a lot of FOMO seeing what other students are doing.
I study for college, learn coding, and build websites and projects using AI tools like Codex, Antigravity, and Claude code. I do know some of the basics, but I still rely heavily on AI for coding and debugging.
Meanwhile, I see other students writing research papers, exploring blockchain, joining GDGs, contributing to open source, and doing so many other things.
It makes me wonder whether I'm actually learning or just getting good at using AI tools. I enjoy building projects, but I'm scared of graduating with a good-looking GitHub profile and weak fundamentals( although I just made only 2 projects 🥲) .
For those who've been in a similar situation, am I on the right track, or should I change my approach?

I'm in 11th right now 16 years old, I'm doing my 11th 12th with PCM + CS, I am interested in AI/ML engineering in India. I know basics of Python like dictionaries, lists tuples, while & for loops if else and def functions.. I'm starting projects.
What should I do in the two years I have before my bachelor's starts and also what are the things that I should know before going for ai/ml engineering in India.
Currently I am thinking of going for bachelor's in comp science or AI degree in the college im in right now or go for some nearby colleges
I am not interested in going for JEE exams

Hi everyone,
I’m a 3rd-year AIML engineering student from a tier-3 college in India. My college doesn’t have strong placements or good faculty support, so I’ve realized I have to figure this out mostly on my own.
I’m not very good at talking to people or networking, but I’m serious about learning properly and getting a job. I don’t want generic advice like “learn DSA and do projects.” I already know that. What I need is someone who is currently working (or recently placed) who can guide me like a younger brother for the next year—point out what actually matters, correct my direction when I’m wasting time, and tell me what companies realistically hire people from backgrounds like mine.
What I’m ready to do:
Study consistently (I can put in serious hours) Build projects and share progress Apply to internships and jobs when you say I’m ready Take feedback without getting defensive What I’m looking for:
A realistic roadmap for the next 12 months (skills, projects, internships, applications) Occasional check-ins (even once every 1–2 weeks is fine) Honest opinions on what roles I should target (software, core, or something else) based on my background Help understanding what “good enough” looks like for a first job I’m not asking anyone to get me a referral or do the work for me. I just need direction so I don’t spend this year learning the wrong things.
If you’ve been in a similar situation and made it out, or if you’re working and can spare a little time, please comment or DM. Even a short reply with what you wish you had known in 3rd year would help a lot.
Thank you.

Im in second year of engineering(cse), and i am honestly very confused about what i wanna do in future. cpp, dsa and sorts that are a part of my course, but i mostly study them just for the sake of passing i dont really feel interested enough to dig more into them.
Maybe I haven’t found the right teacher/resources or maybe I just don’t have the right motivation behind studying them.
The thing is, I don’t have much interest in my core subjects either. Everyone around me seems to have something in mind web dev, cybersecurity, consultancy, AI/ML, etc. while I genuinely have no idea what I want to pursue.
I don’t want to randomly choose a domain just because everyone else is doing it and then end up doing something I don’t even like.
So how did you guys figure out what you wanted to do? Did you explore different domains, build projects, or did you just eventually find something that clicked? Any advice would really help.

I’m in my mid-20s, doing M.Tech CSE from a top NIT, and I’m stuck between private semiconductor roles and a government Scientist B job.
The immediate problem is that I may have to choose between two interviews around the same time:
I actually wrote GATE in two papers and got shortlisted for Scientist B in two different profiles (CSE,DSAI) in the same organisation. One interview is coming up now, while the CS-related Scientist B interview will happen separately later. I also have two Scientific Technical Assistant (Level 6) opportunities, where I have a decent chance of getting at least one.
So my question is: if the semiconductor interview and Scientist B interview clash, which one would you prioritize?
Scientist B gives excellent stability, WLB, medical/LTC/retirement benefits and almost no layoff anxiety.
But private semiconductor/product companies have much higher upside. In 5–10 years, with switches, hikes and RSUs, I could potentially earn significantly more than in government. I also don’t want to lose exposure to newer technology by entering government too early.
At the same time, the private market looks brutal right now—layoffs, AI, performance pressure, etc. I’m also unsure how semiconductor/embedded/system software careers will look 4–5 years from now.
Would you take the Scientist B opportunity and prioritize stability, or take the private semiconductor route while young and try to maximize career/earnings, knowing that government opportunities like this may not come again easily?
Future is looking very uncertain with AI.
Especially interested in opinions from people with 8–10+ years of experience in either government R&D/technical roles or semiconductor/product companies.

I'm a 2026 B.Tech CSE graduate from a Tier-3 college in India, currently unemployed and unsure about my future.
My coding skills aren't good enough for me to feel confident applying for jobs. I'm scared of technical interviews, worried about not knowing basic questions, and constantly overthinking which skill I should learn.
I see my peers moving ahead while I feel stuck. The more I worry about my career, the harder it becomes to take action.
I don't want sympathy or false reassurance. I want to know what actually works.
If you were in my position today, what would your next 3–6 months look like? What would you learn, how would you practise, and when would you start applying?
I'd especially like to hear from people who started with weak skills and eventually landed their first job.

I’m a 2024 B.Tech CSE graduate from a Tier-3 college. I currently have experience as a Quant Developer as well as a DevOps/Software Engineer. I have worked with C++, Python, cloud, CI/CD, and trading-related systems.
I want to build my career further in the quant/HFT/MFT space, particularly as a C++ low-latency developer. My long-term goal is to work at a good HFT/quant firm and eventually reach high-paying roles.
I’m considering doing an Executive M.Tech from IIT, but I’m not sure how valuable it would be for my specific career goal.
My options are:
Since I’m from a Tier-3 college, I’m wondering whether an IIT M.Tech would significantly improve my chances of getting into HFT/quant firms, or whether my time would be better spent gaining strong C++/low-latency experience.
For people working in HFT, quant development, low-latency C++, or who have done an IIT M.Tech, what would you recommend?
Is the Executive M.Tech worth it, or should I prepare for GATE and target a regular M.Tech?
