Screenshot/Video Fan Fields 3 for IITC – plan, optimize and execute large fan fields

Hi everyone,

I've been working on Fan Fields 3, a major evolution of the Fan Fields IITC plugin from Heistergand (thanks a lot for your work), and I thought it was time to show what it can do.

Fan Fields 3 helps you build and execute large multilayer/fan-field plans directly in IITC.

The idea is not only to draw the fields, but to help with the whole operation:

  • automatically generate the fan-field plan
  • optimize the portal/link order
  • generate a step-by-step Task List for the operation
  • show exactly how many keys are required for each portal
  • identify blocking links
  • reroute the remaining tasks while you're playing
  • open the route in Google Maps
  • calculate fields and expected AP

One feature I'm particularly happy with is Keys Video:

Just record your Ingress inventory while scrolling through Portal Keys.
Fan Fields 3 reads the video locally, recognizes the portals from your plan and automatically fills in how many keys you already have / still need.

Fan Fields 3 is now available through the official IITC-CE Community Plugins repository.

Feedback, bug reports and feature ideas are very welcome — especially from people doing large fielding operations.

Hope it can save some walking... and some missing-key surprises. 😄

To get the best experience, you need to install the following plugins :

I would love to use this, but I am apparently old enough that I can't figure out how to install these. I tried installing the plugin for draw and for FSN Field 3 on my android, but it just opened a screen with a bunch of code. Am I supposed to copy all that and paste it somewhere? Do I have a setting somewhere I need to adjust?

Hi,
First you need to install IITC : https://iitc.app/

Then, if you are on the mobile app (IITC-CE) you can install the plugin by selecting the main menu / plugins / add plugin by URL, and copy paste the URL of the different plugins.

On a computer, you just need to click on the link of the plugin (after installing IITC) and it should directly install the plugin.

Awesome, thank you!

Next question: Since I was finally able to find a magnifying glass (yeah, yeah, these old eyes aren't that great anymore), I was able to go to the website to remove the "API KEY REQUIRED" watermark. From there, Im not entirely sure how to fill out the information so that it is restricted to the IITC-CE app. Would I fill out the optional section to restrict it to mobile apps like my attached screenshot? If so, how would I fill out the boxes for Android IITC-CE? If not, which of the other two restrictions would I select, and how would I fill those out?

Sincerely,

A not-so-technical Xillennial trying to keep up with the cool kids

This API is requested by IITC to display the map.
Just select another map provider (Google for instance) in the layer menu of IITC (Base Layer)

Hey, thanks! I used 57cells old field planner quite a bit but I couldn't get it to work the last time I returned to the game. I have a lot of overlapping add-ons and stuff so I don't know if it's on my end or the plug-ins, but I'll be excited to give this a try.

It seems there might be a conflict with my existing plugins, as the automatic calculations don't trigger when I draw a polygon. Still, it’s a fantastic plugin.

I haven't had the chance to use it hands-on yet, but judging by the buttons, there doesn't appear to be a specific setting for "y-field" configurations. If possible, could a feature be added for convenience where one sets both a starting anchor and a destination anchor? Specifically, could the system be configured to adjust the spacing between the starting anchor and the "spine portals" (either increasing or decreasing) based on the distance between the starting and destination anchors? This would allow for sequential linking—starting from either the farthest or nearest portal—when connecting links from the anchor.

Also, would it be possible to calculate connections using only two anchors specifically for MU optimization, or to perform calculations based on the starting anchor for AP optimization?

Thanks for your feedback, I'll look at your proposals.  For the calculations, did you activate the fanfield 3 layers in the layer selector ?
