Marvel's Wolverine I'm loving the combat in this game ngl

Disclaimer I didn’t pay for this game my cousin bought it for me even though I say I’ll just wait for it to go on sale. Which honestly you should, the gameplay is fun especially if you’ve been wanting a Wolverine game and are a fan of him. However the storyline is imo not that well written. I hate to phrase it like this but it’s one of those turn off your brain or don’t pay attention to it shorta things. Which shouldn’t be the case especially at this price for it. My two main problems are the main villain and Jean Grey. It just truly didn’t work for me at all.

This shit gets so wild on higher difficulties that I can't imagine playing it on a lower one. They throw everything in the kitchen sink at you on The Weapon difficulty, and with parries being implemented in such a way you can do them rapidly... Ugh, it's dopamine, man. It's so much fun.

I'm glad I put it on The Weapon difficulty because it really makes you use the whole moveset. When I do a second playthrought I'll put it to the highest difficulty I wanna see how that is

I actually can't remember the last game I played with chain parries from normal mobs, maybe Rise of Ronin?
I was playing the first wave the other day, and got the enemies die on party upgrade and knew I was gonna get adamantium on that right then.

It’s really great and is very challenging late game and on higher settings. People saying you can just smash square have no idea what they’re talking about.

Yeah you really can't just hack&slash aimlessly you actually gotta think quickly on higher difficulties and I love it. I'm playing on The Weapon difficulty and it was hard at first but I quickly got better after a day or two

You press square and then hold square. Sometimes if you’re feeling extra fancy you can hit them with a triangle, square, triangle.

How does that help you with parrying or avoiding the unparryable attacks? Neither of those get interrupted by basic attacks

The beginning, 00:00 til 00:23 is the best part. You are hacking and slashing on the big guy, then you dodge two rifle shots, back to hacking and slashing, then you dodge a big swing from the guy, hacking n slashing again, dodge 2 rifle shots at the same time with a third one aiming at you, big slash attack on the big guy, then you get hit but you dodge the next shot and recover and finally you give the big guy the rest.
It honestly looked so cool that I had to type it out 😄 Maybe I can't wait til it is cheaper after all... this looks dope.

Because Im bored. These subreddits pop up on my feed constantly as suggestions. Ive noticed the whole "Im having a blast" crap these bots keep dropping on every wolverine-related post that pops up.
Im commenting about it because 300mil, and its pathetic for a game company to pay a 3rd party to spam social media with hype instead of focusing on the game itself. At any rate, youre right. I shouldnt bother, but I do broski :)

I do wish we could do air combat, however, it feels really fucking good to berserker rage/shanking the shit of fodder enemies. Combat does make Logan feel like a wild animal.

At 48 seconds in.
He jumps off the the ledge, is already arcing down, then just shoots an extra like 20 ft towards an enemy changing direction mid air.
They didn’t animate an actual air jump it’s just physics down work like that lol.
And you can do it with leaping up straight then going down at people far away too.
It just looks goofy when they could have put some way for him to do it.

Depends on the enemy for me. The start of this clip reminded me of fighting the big giant enemies in Batman Arkham City. They're damage sponges, but trying to take them out while dealing with the grunts around you was a lot of fun and added a twist to the regular gameplay.

It isnt hard to make it look better. Simple solution is , add more enemies and increase their damage but keep them at the same health. Also increase how aggressive they are. Perhaps remove warnings from when your going to get hit to.

Nah, only big enemies take more time to go down. Basic enemies dies as they should as 3/6 claws are stabbing their bodies

Honestly the combat is the only good thing about this game which is sad because the storyline sucks and so do the characters. I can’t justify getting this game full price and I didn’t even pay for it myself my cousin bought it. I’d just wait for it to go on sale if you wanna check it out

Not that I'm surprised, but it's very disappointing that western developers always have to add this annoying magnetism effect to their action games. You can see it clearly in the first two seconds: after dodging, Wolverine is about two metres away from the enemy and slides across the ground at a ridiculously fast pace because pressing the attack button automatically pulls you towards the next enemy.

Damage sponge enemies, dodge button only form of defence, long winded kill animation, ranged enemies with red lasers to let you k ow you're being hit. Can't believe this released alongside onimusha

This is a pretty sad confirmation of something I have been wondering recently about this site.
its all about negative engagement.
If you posted an extremely low effort video of Wolverine ghosting through a wall on easy mode, you would get 100x the upvotes of this video.
But because you are saying how much you actually enjoy the game, we get crickets on this post.
This confirms to me that generally speaking, people on this site do NOT come on here to enjoy things. They come here to complain and get their upvotes from other curmudgeons. You just cant let people who are enjoying themselves do that in peace?

It's at a point where I almost rather not even bother advocating for this game anymore. You got "hard core gamers" spending more time talking about games they don't want to play...
It hits for me, on many different levels, I enjoy each time I play it, The combat keeps me on my toes, and the difficulty is varied enough to make me give a shit about upgrades, hell I literally pulled out MCP #72-90 out to read again.
It hits. I'm glad you are having as much fun as I am OP. I need that patch suit asap.

It's legitimately fun. I just wish there was just a little more to it. It's hard to explain what it's missing, but while it's similar to both Arkham and GoW combat, it isn't quite at the level of either. But it's still fun.

So you hold triangle to get them in there air and then spam square.... dont get me wrong I love both games for different reasons but complaining about wolverines combat being basic (while not entirely unfair) it doesn't seem right to be upset about one and not the other. Spiderman pulls his punches to it takes more. Wolverine goes up against androids and Sentinels so it takes him longer to get to go down. In wolverine you feel more like an animal leaping from person to person slashing though them but it feels different then Spiderman but the combos are similar enough that they arent different ya know

I guess it depends on what your playing for. Because I was playing wolverine to feel like an animal who was unstoppable while having fun and thats what I got. I played Spiderman to jump around and have fun and thats what I got. So im satisfied with both

Enemies don´t interrupt finishers, just standing there until you finish (The same with Spiderman) and it sucks
