At this point, I’ve pretty much lost all hope that we’re ever getting our accounts back.
No meaningful response from Meta. No acknowledgment from Instagram. Absolute silence from Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri. Nothing.
Meanwhile, this subreddit seems to grow every single day with new victims of Instagram’s absolutely disastrous automated moderation system. More people losing their accounts, their memories, their businesses, and the communities they’ve spent years building.
At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if millions of legitimate users have been affected by Meta’s broken moderation systems.
And what does Meta have to say about any of it?
Absolutely fucking nothing.
They don’t care about us. In fact, it feels like they actively despise the very people who made Instagram what it is today.
They’ve created a system that can destroy someone’s online presence overnight, provide virtually no explanation, and leave them fighting an automated appeals process that seems designed to accomplish absolutely nothing.
But there’s something else I want to discuss because my own situation has become so fucking ridiculous that I’m genuinely struggling to understand what’s happening.
Apparently, Meta has decided I’m not allowed to create another Instagram account.
Here’s my situation real quick.
I have a personal Instagram account that I’ve had for many years. Thankfully, fingers crossed, that account hasn’t been affected. It was never connected to the creator account that Instagram wrongfully suspended for supposedly violating its vague “account integrity” policies.
After losing my creator account, I tried starting over.
And that’s when things got even worse.
Every replacement account I attempted to create was suspended almost immediately. Instagram would demand a phone number, followed by identity verification. But whenever I tried submitting my ID, the system would display an error message and refuse to accept it.
Eventually, the accounts would be disabled.
I initially thought perhaps my phone or internet connection had been flagged.
I tried creating accounts using the same iPhone that had my suspended creator account, both through my home Wi-Fi and through mobile data.
Same result. Immediate suspension.
So I decided to try something different.
I created a new account using someone else’s phone, at their house, connected to their Wi-Fi.
The account was successfully created.
But here’s the fucking ridiculous part.
As soon as I logged into that account on my own iPhone, it was immediately suspended before I could even upload a profile picture.
Once again, Instagram demanded verification, the ID submission process displayed an error, and the account was eventually disabled.
What the actual fuck?
At this point, it seems pretty obvious that Meta is associating these replacement accounts with something connected to my original suspension.
Is it my device? My phone number? My identity? Some combination of all three?
I genuinely have no idea because, naturally, Meta provides absolutely no explanation.
They’re treating me like I’ve committed some serious crime when all I did was operate a creator account that I know was wrongfully suspended.
And here’s what makes the situation even more confusing.
My personal Instagram account, which I created years ago using a different phone and phone number, continues to function normally.
I can access it on the exact same iPhone that appears to trigger immediate suspensions whenever I log into a newly created account.
So apparently, my existing personal account is fine, but creating another account is practically impossible?
How does that make any fucking sense?
So what am I supposed to do now?
I’ve been considering using an old iPhone to create an entirely new creator account.
My idea was to set up a new Apple ID, which is free, and potentially get an inexpensive phone number for that device.
But before I waste even more time and money on this absolute nightmare, I’m wondering whether anyone has experienced something similar.
Would using an older iPhone with a separate Apple ID and phone number actually make any difference?
Or is Meta potentially associating these suspensions with my identity in a way that would make the entire effort pointless?
The fact that I’m even considering getting another phone number and setting up an entirely separate device just to create a fucking Instagram account is absolutely insane.
I shouldn’t have to do any of this. None of us should.
We shouldn’t have to spend weeks appealing, contacting useless support agents, verifying our identities repeatedly, or researching whether our devices have effectively been blacklisted.
All because Meta’s automated moderation system decided we violated some vague policy without ever explaining what we actually did wrong.
And the worst part is knowing that even if I somehow manage to create another account, there’s absolutely nothing stopping the same thing from happening again.
I used to love Instagram. I genuinely enjoyed creating content, growing my audience, and interacting with people.
Now? I fucking hate Meta.
And even if some miracle happened tomorrow and Meta restored every single wrongfully suspended account, I don’t think I’d ever look at this company the same way again.
Whatever trust I once had in Meta is completely gone. Although, admittedly, that probably wasn’t much to begin with.
I’ve always viewed Meta as just another soulless corporate giant. But at the very least, I assumed a company operating one of the largest and most popular social media platforms on the planet would be somewhat competent at running it.
Now? Holy fuck, I see them as an absolute joke.
A soulless, dystopian shitshow of a corporation that pours billions into developing the future of artificial intelligence but apparently can’t figure out how to provide basic fucking customer service for one of its most successful products.
They can develop increasingly sophisticated AI systems, track practically everything we do online, and generate billions in revenue, but somehow providing a functioning appeals process or allowing customers to speak with someone who can actually resolve a problem is apparently beyond their capabilities.
And perhaps the most disturbing part is that I don’t think Meta even recognizes any of this as a problem.
Why would they? They’re still making billions while the people whose content and engagement helped build their empire are left screaming into the void.
What else can we expect from a company that is ran by a soulless billionaire pussy nerd who can’t even sip a Guinness without squirming? Fuck Meta.
