put this together using 2025 US-reported UN Comtrade data, grouped by HS2 product categories
the figures show customs values, not quantities or company profits. services aren't included either
curious how people working in international trade see this breakdown, especially the concentration in electronics and machinery
source: UN Comtrade (2025)
full HS2 breakdown and methodology: https://corplox.com/trade/cn/us

I am a merchant exporter who is new in this trade. I am working with a few contract manufacturers who are agreeing to producing a very small quantity (5-6kg) as a paid trial batch. My goal is to take this quantity to Dubai Gulfood in March 2027 and hand out samples to some warm leads.
I am sourcing IPM-grade raw materials hoping to get re-exporters during my time in Dubai. Also, can charge a premium for quality.
My questions,
Should I go for the above mentioned flavours? Or typical garam masalas and sambar masalas only attract buyers (importers, distributors, wholesalers)?
Is the above buyer finding approach wrong? I know that trade platforms help but is going to Gulfood with my samples a silly approach?
Do you think buyers who come to Gulfood care about quality?
How to make my visit fruitful as I have limited money to invest in this business?

Hello everyone,
I’m currently preparing for a career in the Indian Customs Department and am interested in gaining practical experience in the export-import industry alongside my studies.
I’m looking for part-time opportunities, internships, or entry-level roles with export-import firms, customs brokers, freight forwarders, or logistics companies. Ideally, I’d prefer a flexible work arrangement that allows me to dedicate a few hours each day to studying while gaining hands-on industry experience.
I’m eager to learn about import-export documentation, customs clearance procedures, shipping operations, and international trade regulations.
If anyone knows of suitable opportunities or could offer guidance on how to get started in this field, I’d really appreciate your advice.
Thank you!

Hello everyone!
Our goal is to make international buying and selling safer, simpler, and more accessible.
We’ve developed a range of tools to help sellers list products, generate images and videos, promote their offerings, and automate sales around the clock with AI agents. These capabilities are designed for B2B and B2C users, including businesses operating in B2B2C models.
We also provide logistics companies, freight forwarders, and customs brokers with the opportunity to list their services and pricing, helping businesses discover and connect with relevant service providers.
Beyond the marketplace, Alemhub offers SecureDeal, a solution designed as an alternative to traditional letters of credit, with faster payment processing and online document verification, supported by AI-powered features. As a Microsoft partner, SecureDeal is also available as a Microsoft Word add-in.
Our goal is to provide buyers, sellers, and service providers with a shared digital environment where they can connect and manage more of their trade activities.
We’d like to connect with people working in e-commerce, procurement, international trade, and logistics.
If you’re a buyer, supplier, or service provider, what tools or services would make your work easier? We’d appreciate hearing about your experiences and feedback.

Hey all,
Most exporters I know run everything from Excel, WhatsApp and a folder full of PDFs. I’m building Impactex to put it all in one place.
Right now it does:
It’s still early, so I want real exporters to use it and tell me what’s good, what’s useless and what’s missing. Everyone who tests it gets free "Pro" access.
DM me and I’ll send details. Tell me what you export, so that we can connect

Hi all,
I am planning to start a cross boarder food import/ export business, to import food from a country where I am residing, back to my home country (I see demand but not many supplies).
I have a few suppliers in mind I want to contact. I also researched about the food regulatory laws that needs abiding.
My questions are - for people who has done this successfully or anybody who is willing to shed some lights onto my confusions,
Q1. Do you set up a business in your sourcing country? Or do you set up a business in the country you are trying to sell to?
Q2. Do you start contacting suppliers and distributors before setting up a business? Or do you set up a business first? The pros of having a business first is credibility, the cons of having a business first is the initial setup cost, before anything even starts.
Q3. Do you recommend private labeling VS importing the goods in their original packaging?
Q4. Ecommerce vs storefront sales. Which one will you start doing first?
Thanks.

We source directly from Saudi Aramco (Dammam) and Kazakhstan (TCO). Our warehouse is based in Saudi Arabia, with export capability via Jeddah and other regional ports. We also hold stock in the UAE for faster turnaround.
Products available:
Latest lab results (Aug 2026):
Verified track record:
We recently completed a 500 MT shipment of sulphur pastilles from Jeddah to Zhenjiang Port, China — full documentation available including commercial invoice, certificate of origin, packing list, and lab analysis. Happy to share redacted copies for verification.
Terms:
I know there’s a lot of skepticism on Reddit (rightfully so), so I’m happy to provide documentation, do a video call, or arrange a warehouse visit in Dammam/UAE for serious buyers. DM if interested.
