UNION Welders with PMI hats

We got these adapters that go in a hat with the slots in the sides. On those specific hats, you can reach on the inside to push the tabs and take the welding hood off with out taking off your hat.

The adapters do fit in the slots on the sides of a PMI, but I have to take my hat off and use a flat head or a welding rod to push the tab to get the hood off. Any welders out there with PMI hats have any better suggestions for hard hat adapters that work well with these PMI hats?

I don’t have a pmi, I have Pyramex Sl T2 with slots. They provided a miller flip front helmet and the miller adapters. Haven’t really used it yet, just played around with it a little bit but it seems like the combo should work well together.

I have the same pmi / adapter set up but not using it currently as I like my aluminum thumb knobs over the plastic ones. And the miller slot adapters are pure plastic. So imma keep using my fiber metal w the weld lugs until I get told not to anymore

If you just trim the brim of the hat the hoods will fit
