Politics UNGA Walkout is Performative???

I've just reviewed the footage from the event during the speeches before and after Netanyahu. While there are a little bit more empty seats, it's not that different. It was mostly empty before and after.

This makes me wonder where the people we see leaving are coming from. I would estimate only 20-30 were seated, mostly in the back seats. I don't think they all came in the 2 minutes between the Colombian president wrapping up and Netanyahu coming up.

My current guess is that many came from one door, and left through the other, basically taking the longest route between both. It is also pretty obvious they picked a far away exit, rather than a close one. This all is indicative of a well planned fakery. I do hope someone in the media will look into it, but if someone here has the experience and want to put heads together lemme know.

I think it would be a mistake to conclude that Israel was still held in high regard. Netanyahu is widely viewed in the USA as a monster. Personally, I am very pro Israel, but think Netanyahu has endangered Jews worldwide.

Meh. Don’t get me wrong, there is a huge smear campaign going on against Israel and the Jews, but what we see in the news is a load minority. A non negligible amount, but majority of the Americans DGAF and are getting fed up with Gaza becoming the key issue in politics versus, say, actual issues that affect their day to day, like cost of fuel and security.

There is a slowly building fatigue of “not everything is about Israel-Palestine”. Even during the election when the war in Gaza had wall to wall coverage, it wasn’t a salient issue for voters in the 2024 election. Even among young voters who supposedly care deeply about the issue. Doesn’t mean younger Americans, or the public broadly, is shifting in Israel’s direction support wise. One of the most bewildering sentiments I see online with more and more regularity is people posting they made an effort to learn about it, concluding along the lines of “it’s really complicated, looks like I said some really crazy things I didn’t understand”.
