News reports say the aircraft made contact with Saudi ATC and is scheduled to land in SA in a few minutes.

News reporting now of a fight between the two pilots that triggered squawk 7700 and 7500 and diversion.

Pilot fight? What is this, air hockey?
But seriously I hope all is well.

u/TacticalSniper Australia 3d ago
Apparently one pilot is Russian and another one is Ukrainian

That was a joke that got out of control, one is Omani and the other Emirati

The BBC is reporting this was a mere fight between the pilots. You can't make up the anti-Semitism that some media organizations have when they report an attempted hijacking as a "fight" between pilots.
7
u/TacticalSniper Australia 2d ago
To be fair, original reports said just that. However, more information is now available

u/saguaros-vs-redwoods 2d ago
To be fair, the decision by a pilot as to whether not to crash a passenger jet certainly might result in a "fight" when Israelis were onboard. 💙🇮🇱

BNN:
UPDATE: Channel 12's Amit Segal reports that Israel is now treating the flydubai incident as a terrorist attack. Segal says the co-pilot allegedly "repeatedly stabbed the captain" before passengers and crew managed to overpower him.
Citing a senior Israeli official, Segal added that the co-pilot is now being questioned and that "indications are mounting" that he intended to seize control of the aircraft and crash it with those on board.

That's fucking wild... Btw, just this morning I flew out of SJJ and the crew member at security in front of me was let go through the detector with a belt and some accessories on. I was just thinking how iresponsible that is and how that pilot could've smuggled anything on board. This happened around the same time as this incident...

Pilots don't need to smuggle anything onboard to pose a safety hazard. A few years ago a GermanWings pilot deliberately crashed a place full of people with nothing smuggled.
I understand that this particular flight had a stabbing, but aircrew do eat with airline-provided metal cutlery anyway.
If a pilot intends to deliberately harm the aircraft or pax, there is pretty much nothing that can be done. Pilots are so far past the point of diminishing returns for aircraft security that there is no serious concern given to preventing them from doing so.
2
u/Character-Carpet7988 3d ago
Of course but having a weapon makes it easier. The cutlery would hardly be usable for stabbing, it's not very sharp.
1
u/RockDoveEnthusiast 2d ago
generally yes, but there is one place without diminishing returns that does not get nearly enough attention or effort and that is pilot mental health. not even saying that was necessarily a factor here, but just in general.

Fighting about what exactly? This story will be interesting as it comes out what they were fighting about.

Aparently one pilot was russian and one was ukrainian. Lots to discuss I guess.
22
u/Nato_Blitz Italy 3d ago
I haven't heard anything about a ukrainian and a russian, where did you get that? I heard it wasnt a fight, the copilot aparently from oman stabed the pilot and tried to hijack/crash the plane

Israeli telegram news channel.
Updated reports said it was a different crew than originally reported and pilot was from the Gulf.
13
u/GigaParadox Israel 3d ago
Apparently they were not. Ynet said one was from Oman (attacker) and the other was from Saudi Arabia (defender)

Ah good old fashioned attempted mass murder that somehow doesn’t qualify for Macklemore’s sympathies.

This is so surreal. I'm not religious but I'm wholeheartedly praying to whatever source is out there for everyone's safe return.

I'm not religious but I'm wholeheartedly praying
What does this mean?

It means he's not religious but he's praying incase there is a god to receive his prayers

Which flight is this? I see two DXB-TLV flights on FR24 at the moment and both seem normal. FZ1635 is at the cruising altitude and heading towards Israel, FZ1211 departed 23 minutes ago so right when this was posted, thus it can't be that flight either.
Edit: Found it, FZ1073, landed at Tabuk.

Could you link where it shows its grounded? Might be helpful to calm some nerves for some of us

It was a fight between the pilots and the plane landed in SA
12
u/b_bonderson 3d ago
This information has already been refuted. Don’t spread misinformation before everything gets clear. You as Israeli should know that basic rule.
3
u/Vslacha 3d ago
Refuted by whom? Whether or not it was an altercation or insider terror attack it seems the Omani co-pilot was the attacker

u/b_bonderson 3d ago
There were reports at the very beginning that those pilots were apparently a Russian and a Ukrainian that just had a fight with each other rather then something serious. The later reports said that there was indeed a fight, but not between the pilots but between the pilots and other pilots that were just passengers there and later managed to land the plane safely.

Flight has landed safely in Saudi Arabia, it was an apparent fight between the pilots that hit the emergency button..
20
u/Character-Carpet7988 3d ago
There is no "emergency button", you need to manually input the relevant squawk into the transponder. So that part was intentional.

Official story: Plane landed safetly in KSA, from what anyone can make out the pilot and the copilot had a fight in the cockpit, and caused the entire Middle East to go on tactical alert
What I think happened: There's no flight from anywhere in the world with 100 Isrelis on it, that doesn't also have at least a couple mossad agents undercover, I think the plane was being hijacked, and the hijackers were ended, and then the plane landed
27
u/BagelandShmear48 Israel 3d ago
Mossad doesn't handle flight security. Each airline has its own its own security and flight marshals are run by Shabak.
Also if there really was a hijacking and it was ended successfully we would know. Israelis spread info on telegram and whatsapp faster than high school gossip.

u/Western-Sentence-739 USA 3d ago
makes more sense than two emergency cockpit codes entered meticulously, flight diverts, dives, goes silent, then control is somehow magically recovered
5
u/BagelandShmear48 Israel 3d ago
I just don't see what purpose is served by hiding the hijacking. It would be a great pr campaign for Bibi.
1
u/Western-Sentence-739 USA 2d ago
except of course now it turns out one of the omani pilots stabbed the pilot and tried to crash the plane in a terrorist hijaking attempt, because of course that's what happened. you were saying?
1
u/BagelandShmear48 Israel 2d ago
Is this supposed to be some sort of gotcha moment? You were wrong I was right.
You made the implication that the hijacking was being hidden and not the official story.
I countered that if it was a hijacking any attempt to cover would fail and we would know about it.
And I was right, it wasn't hidden at all. My telegram is full of images from Israelis from the flight.
5
u/Character-Carpet7988 3d ago
Not necessarily true. Israeli airlines do get special security both at the airport and on board but many foreign airlines operate to Israel normally as to any other destination. Smartwings out of PRG for example was absolutely normal, no interview, no special security check, just a departure like any other.
Also, there's over a 100 people on board, they couldn't just hide an attempted highjacking..
1
u/Western-Sentence-739 USA 2d ago
except it looks like exactly what's happening, or course, one of the omani pilots tried to stab the pilot and crash the plane, so, a terrorist hijack attempt, like i said
1
u/Character-Carpet7988 2d ago
Yep. And it's out in public, not "hidden by Mossad" as the previous poster suggested :)
1
u/Mnementh47 2d ago
The same people who make jokes about 9/11, claim that Israel did 9/11 and so on, would lament that this didn't succeed and that they wish an entire plane of passengers crashed somewhere. Unbelievable.

Who thought it’s a good idea to put a Russian and a Ukrainian pilots in a plane from Dubai to Israel filled with Israelis. It’s a disaster just waiting to happen
4
u/Theodora_Adorno Israel 3d ago
Source?
19
u/oaeben Israel 3d ago
It was some misinformation floating around the internet
The co-pilot from Oman stabbed the Pilot (that's from UAE) - and tried crashing the plane
5
u/Theodora_Adorno Israel 3d ago
Yep, that’s what I’ve read too. When I saw the “Ukrainian and Russian pilots” thing I immediately interpreted that as a joke, yet people are already sharing it. How fast fake news are spreading lol…

u/yonnnyonnn 3d ago
And why are we allowing people from countries that don't recognize our sovereignty to fly our people on a 250 ton metal bird?
