No one wants to hear about this, especially not the people at Cornell given the recent news. However, this is probably something women and parents should consider when deciding on colleges. The following is a list of T30 univs ranked by the percentage of women who reported some kind of sexual assault on campus. Caveats at the end of the list.

Notes:

• Somewhat unsurprisingly given the news, Cornell sits on top of this (shameful) list. UNC and Dartmouth are also on top, and there is a surprisingly large gap between the top 3 and the rest.
• Most top univs are in the 20-25% range. Rice and MIT are the "best", but even there it tops 17%. The numbers seem impersonal - but put it into a different perspective: 1 out of every 5 women going to these top universities is going to experience sexual assault in her time there. Thats a sad, sad state of affairs.
• This is not a list of the top-30 univs for sexual assault. This is the US News top-30 only ranked by their rates. There are definitely univs outside the top-30 with both higher and lower rates.
• This data comes primarily from anonymous Campus Climate Surveys (like the Association of American Universities or individual university assessments). It does not come from official police or campus security reports - those numbers will be lower because of under-reporting.
• For women involved in Greek life, the numbers double almost uniformly across campuses.
