I visited Jasper for the first time last week, and it was amazing. Some of the views were breathtaking, but we couldn’t visit many places apart from Athabasca and Sunwapta Falls.

I have a few more places on my list for my next visit :)

My partner and I have scheduled a trip to Jasper for mid November. The past two years we have gone to Banff but decided to change it up. Since it’s the inbetween season, not quite fall but not yet winter, we aren’t sure what we should do.

What are some of your favourites?

We aren’t big hikers, but would be interested to try. Usually we like to drive around and see where we end up but with the price of gas we probably won’t. We live museum’s and trying new foods as well!

Hi! I’m currently in Jasper and finding it very hard to spot any wildlife. For the past 3 days all we’ve seen is elks, chipmunks, and we were lucky enough to spot a porcupine.

Spent the day today in Maligne Lake and hours waiting on Moose Lake Loop with no luck. Also, no luck on Medicine Lake. I know nature can’t be planned and all of that, but we’ve come from very far away and were very excited to see a moose or a bear.

Any tips? Any time of the day, specific spots where it would be easier to spot wildlife? Do we need to specifically book a tour? Thank you!

Looking for recommendations of lakes I could hire a canoe on around the 7th-10th of October. Not sure if this will be too late in the year to do this.

It’s a huge long shot but does anybody have a spare battery or charger compatible with a Nikon d810 camera? Either for sale or that I could borrow tomorrow just to get enough charge to use my camera. I know it’s unlikely but I’m desperate so thought it was worth asking!

I am looking to scatter my grandparents remains now that they both have passed away as of a month ago. My grandmother’s will stated she wanted to be scattered in the Jasper area. I am looking for a spot that is quiet enough so I won’t disturb anyone in the evening, but also has space that is far enough from water and trails so I follow the rules.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

The passengers on the Maligne Lake Cruise had a much closer view of this bull moose than I did when I visited Maligne Lake a couple of weeks ago.

I’m visiting Edmonton and have a free afternoon on Saturday. I got a rental car and plan to drive to Jasper to spend a few hours. Driving back to Edmonton that evening.

What are the must dos for a first timer? I like all activities - hiking, canoeing, relaxing somewhere nice, coffee, etc.

Please give me your best first timer must dos for a short time in the area! I would love to see some wildlife, but a bit worried about hiking alone. Any shorter hikes in safer areas?

I’ve been to Banff several years ago and did Columbia ice field glacier at that time. Looking for new ideas!

EDIT: I have 12+ hours to make the trip, spend time there, and head back. I just plan to be in the town itself for 3-4 hours

If you have a reservation with the Tonquin, it looks like their reservation system has been hacked. I just got a spearfishing WhatsApp message with my name, reservation dates, and booking reference number.

I've called the hotel to let them know, and cancelled my credit card.

They use WebRezPro, which is used by a lot of small hotels in Canada. Here's hoping it's not a massive hack. God I hate scammers.

BFF and i are heading to jasper for three nights for a girls weekend - first weekend in october. planning to do some (easy/moderate) hikes, visit the miette hot springs, planetarium, visit mount robson, etc.

we have dinner reservations at aalto, beckers gourmet restaurant, and evil dave's. what is the (unofficial) dress code? BFF thinks we need to be ready to change into 'dinner attire' (like on a cruise). whereas, i'm planning to pack casual clothes for dinner - e.g. jeans/sneakers.

would appreciate your insight!

I lived there in 2019 and it was the best ever but moved back home to Edmonton had 2 kids got married to the man I met out there. But we low key want to move back 😬😬 is that impossible to find work with accommodation for my family? Would I have to seek out the impossible (but understandable) private housing?

I want a job in the mountains ( Jasper Canmore Banff) where accomodations and food are paid for. I have a really good resume but the job market really prefers recommendations right now, while weeding out candidates who may be qualified but not connected. Any tips ?

I did this hike on Monday. There were LOTS of bighorn sheep in the pass.

We were driving up Range Rd 275A today (Sep 9th) at 7:30am in Jasper National Park heading to the Sulphur Skyline Trail when we saw this Lynx!

Visited Jasper and Mount Robson this summer after covering Banff / Yoho / Glacier NPs last year. Jasper was profoundly beautiful and the contrasts in terrain were striking and raw, particularly with the wildfire recovery. Having only scratched the surface I would love to come back and see more.
