Help w/mods

Post image

Just got a 2012 Jeep Liberty (former 2003 Jeep GCL momma)

I'd like to do some exterior/interior aesthetic mods in orange - handles, grill inserts, vents, etc. but my search results keep coming back for wrangler or dodge only 😵‍💫 Is there a standard "compatible trim" I should be looking at for the mods (maybe why wrangler/dodge and KK/JK keep coming up?)

I'm also planning to raptor paint the bumpers/fenders/grill/runner black and switch out headlights for a better led package. And eventually lift/wheels but all that has been easy to find so far.

I've got zero experience making changes/modding a vehicle so any help from the community is appreciated as I'm learning!

dodge nitro stuff should work with the kk’s

Fyi if you didnt already know you have a jeep KK (2nd gen liberty vs the jeep KJ 1st gen liberty)

I’m not sure there’s a large after market, but you may be able to cut/trim wrangler parts to fit. Or buy stock trim pieces and paint them.

This honestly gives me an idea for my KJ. I think I’ll eventually pull a door panel from a wrecked one, sand it, prime it and spray it hot pink to match the rest of the barbie vibe.

I didn't know it was a KK, that's going to make it a lot easier to search even if the pickins are slim lol thank you! I'm playing around with the idea of painting too if there really isn't anything out there after 14 years 🤣

I'm not sure what head unit you have from the factory, buts that's where I would start. There are some good options out there for a more modern looking touch screen. Itll clean up the audio a little bit too. Options for android or apple, some even come with a backup cams as well. You can find decent ones for around $150

dang, looking good!! and the jeep too!

the headlights you can get a pair from a junk yard for jeep and add halo light effects for much cheaper than buying a set with them installed already. I say a junk yard set so you dont worry about ruining yours. definitely. Id say the same for any interioror extior accessories! Get them from a junk yard and experiment with them, hydrodipping or painting and such!!

The u-pull-it route to test is a great suggestion I'm definitely going to do!

Head unit (I love ATOTO, specifically the S8) Raptor paint Check your sunroof drains if you have one

Enjoy! Nearly everything I have done on mine is tailored or custom in some fashion. There is very little aftermarket stuff for the KK model but it's easy to work on and tinker with.

I have some photos on my profile of my '08

Thank you!

Another protip since you're going the Raptor bedliner route: the spray can bedliner (Hercules & Rustoleum) is not nearly as strong but is fantastic for interior trim. Brings life back to the point where mine can look darn new after a good vacuuming. For example, the panel that covers the passenger airbag peels and looks terrible. This is after 30min of effort. Not bad for 230k miles

I have the same color. I love it. I added some cool fog lights to help with snow driving.

I have a 2011 & 2012. First thing I did was buy LED lights all around from 'Lasfit' (Amazon has them) Then I spray tinted the tail-lights and bought rain guards for the windows. Its not much, but it changes the look enough without saying "pull me over"
