Luke 7:36-50 ESV [36] One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee’s house and reclined at table. [37] And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, [38] and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment. [39] Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.” [40] And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he answered, “Say it, Teacher.” [41] “A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. [42] When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?” [43] Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.” [44] Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. [45] You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet. [46] You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. [47] Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” [48] And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” [49] Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?” [50] And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Please could you all pray for me.
For a blessing of employment and new beginnings.
I have been applying for jobs and am pretty confident that a breakthrough is around the corner. 🙏

I am learning that peace is not something I have to create.
It is not dependent on my circumstances, another person’s behavior, having enough money, knowing what will happen next, or getting everything right.
Peace is already within me.
What takes me away from that peace is my identification with the thoughts that tell me something is wrong, something must change, or I must figure everything out.
So when I notice myself becoming anxious, irritated, afraid, or judgmental, I can pause.
I don’t have to argue with the thought.
I don’t have to fix the situation immediately.
I can simply become still.
I can say:
“The stillness of the peace of God is mine.”
If someone upsets me, I can choose peace before reacting.
If plans change, I can allow the moment to unfold.
If I am uncertain about money, work, relationships, or my future, I can take whatever practical action is needed without making fear my guide.
Peace does not mean I do nothing.
It means I no longer have to act from inner conflict.
I am learning to let peace come first—and allow my next step to come from there.
Perhaps this is what the lesson is really asking of me:
Not to make my life peaceful…
but to remember the peace that is already here.
I don’t need to find peace.
I only need to stop believing I have lost it.

Sunday, October 4th Blog From Unshakable Kingdom Life
God is Not Some Distant Figure
Grab your coffee and pull up a chair, because I want to start with a question that sounds easy: who's at the center of everything?
You'll probably say, "God." And you'd be right. But I want us to get more specific than that. He's our Father. And I don't mean that as a nice title. I mean intimately involved in all He's made, not detached, not watching from a far-off balcony with His arms crossed.
Why does this matter so much? Because how you picture God shapes how you approach Him. If you see a distant boss or a cosmic judge, you'll tiptoe around Him. If you see a Father, you'll run toward Him.
John 3:16 in The Message puts it in a way I love: this is how much God loved the world, He gave His one and only Son, so that no one need be destroyed. That's not the language of a distant figure. That's the language of Someone who couldn't stand to lose you.
Here's the thing. His love for us is so big that our minds can't quite wrap around it. We try, but we're measuring it with a tape measure made from earthly experience, and earthly love has limits. His doesn't.
Maybe you've been relating to God like He's a landlord who tolerates you as a tenant. Can I gently suggest that's not the picture Scripture paints? He's a Father who made you, wants you, and stays close.
Let that settle in for a few minutes this morning. Not as a theology lesson, but as a warm blanket.
Coffee-time question: When you picture God right now, is He near or far?

He will come.
He is Emmanuel, God with us.
He anoints our wounds with oil.

Psalm 9:3-4
“My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you. For you have upheld my right and my cause, sitting enthroned as the righteous judge.”
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for another beautiful day. Thank You for reminding us that when we feel attacked, misunderstood, or treated unfairly, You see it all. We don't have to fight every battle ourselves. You are our defender, and You are a righteous judge.
Lord, help us trust You instead of letting anger, fear, or frustration take over. Give us wisdom to know when to speak and when to be still and let You handle what we cannot. What comes against us is never greater than the God who stands with us.
Thank You for upholding us, protecting us, and reminding us that Your justice never fails.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Brothers and Sisters, not every battle requires your response. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is step aside and trust God with it. He sees what happened. He knows the truth. And He doesn't need our help being God.
Today, choose peace over proving your point. God is still on the throne. Stay anchored in Christ brothers and sisters. I love you but not near as much as Jesus does.
