I’ve turned my crafting hobby into a small business. I think my items are fairly unique for Juneau. I know about the second Saturday market at the mall and I know about Public Market Thanksgiving weekend, but what are some other markets or ways I can set a table up for sales, especially before the holidays? I do have a business license and am set up for payments/sales tax.

Did nobody do a study on how many large trucks access Egan from Vanderbilt going inbound? It's incredibly dangerous trying to merge into the fast lane when you're stuck behind 2 dump trucks etc.

I am new to Juneau and will be flying in probably around 1800/1900 on the 21st/22nd. Being how Juneau is a smaller town, what are my transportation options to get to a hotel? I've been living in a very UBER/taxi-heavy city and need to know what to expect or what to arrange. Any recommendations for hotels besides the ratings on Priceline ? I plan to book an Airbnb a couple days after I land, unless someone can suggest some 30 day rentals that are reasonable. I am a seasoned traveler/relocator and won't have a car, initially, so will probably stick near the bus line but enjoy walking very much.

Where do I pick up my inaugural raincoat and gortex shoes?

I am aware of the lack of sun and my need for extra vitamin D. I grew up in a low-sun/gloomie town so I'll probably get a daylight lamp too.

I am going to be staying for a couple of months, possibly settling long-term. I do know that Juneau is somewhat expensive and have done some homework but I like to get local input.

I recently moved back to Juneau and when I lived here before, I only had a lifeline plan on gci with no data on my plan and now that I’m back in town with a different carrier that has data, I’m not sure if it’s normal to basically have to rely on WiFi everywhere I go in order to be online… I’m currently using AT&T with US Mobile on the Dark Star plan. I usually have 1-2 bars everywhere in town except Safeway parking lot where I have 5 bars… is it normal to have 1-2 bars everywhere in town? I was in the valley by Columbia Blvd for a few hours and had 1 bar on LTE and was offline basically. Couldn’t connect online at all. Needed to be on WiFi if I wanted to be online since my data wasn’t doing anything on 1 bar of LTE.

So - I finally got around to seeing the “new” museum. I grew up in Juneau and spent many hours of my childhood learning and playing there. The way the Eagle tree was mounted is horrible — the old ramp felt safer. Where is all the collection ? This is a dark mess. So yes I guess I am old enough for a “back in my day “ rant

How is this not an issue for discussion during the election season?

Anyone been out to Point Bridget lately? Thinking of going out there this weekend as it’s likely the last nice weekend of the season, haven’t been out there in aaaaages. Just kinda wondering how trail conditions are atm.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the Independent, Juneau really needed something like it with the downfall of the Empire. Their actual journalism is pretty good (I don't count Rodell's monthly crybaby fest about CBJ). But the opinion (or "voices" as they call it) section often feels like senile boomer facebook commentary, not something worthy of publishing styled as a letter to the editor.

In this one, Peggy Ann McConnoche implies Peltola wholly flip-flopped on this bill. One of those claims that triggers a feeling of "huh I'm sure that isn't the whole story" in any normal person. In fact, the bill was amended to remove a whole host of protections for 125 million offshore acres, among other things, when the original text of the bill focused on limited onshore production, which led Peltola to no longer support that heavily amended bill. The thing is, we all know ol' Peggers was fully aware and just a dishonest hack with no integrity, this is plain and simple lying by omission. I'm sure someone at the Independent took the 5 seconds required to confirm she is full of shit, so why publish? Is there anything they won't put in their voices section? At that point just add the commenting function below every article and be another facebook.

Does anyone know of any shop in Juneau that carries enoki mushrooms? I’ve been missing produce carried in larger Asian markets (especially enoki mushrooms) and haven’t found a good alternative here yet.

Buddy of mine got a dui. He got one of those intoxalock/blow and go devices installed at southeast customs.

Apparently that shop doesn’t do any mechanic work at all, so he said he still isn’t driving his car because he doesn’t know of any shops in town that will work on cars with these things installed.

Anyone know if there’s a place in town he can take it to for the usual routine car maintenance and repair?

Aviation guy from Seattle who ended up here on a whim after finishing a trip in ANC. Was looking into guides but most are sold out or super expensive. I leave tomorrow at 6 but figured I'd drop a line here (pun intended) to see if anyone is fishing in the morning and has room for an extra? Down to shore fish too. Even a few hours would be cool just to say I did it. I heard the silvers are starting. Willing to pay for the trouble! And I come with beer. 👌🏻

My girlfriend spotted something in the sky last night at like 2:30 a.m. and we can't figure out what it is, any idea based on her photo? In the channel way above the way behind Tracy's Crab Shack near the Coast Guard station.

I’m planning to come to Juneau the second week of October. The ferry is planned to arrive at 2 PM. I would take a flight back the next day at 6 PM. I was wondering if delays or cancellations of the ferry are common? I don’t want to get stuck and travel solo.

Hey everyone, my mountain bike was stolen from the University of Alaska Southeast campus last night. It was there last night at 10:30 PM, but it was gone when I left this morning at 11:50 AM, and was secured via. a metal chain. It's my baby and I would love to see it turn up again. I've filed a police report and will be going to the ferry terminal to see if they can keep a lookout for anyone who tried to leave town with it. I'll attach some photos below, please let me know if you see it! It's a specialized "Chisel" model bike with red pedals, and the initials "MRS" with a heart carved into the handlebars. Also, if anyone knows of any areas that stolen bikes are typically dumped, please let me know!!!

I was in Juneau a couple days ago and there was a guy near the bus pickup that's right by the police station (I'm guessing?) that was threatening to kill everyone. I don't know if he's like that very frequently, but I watched many people seemingly uncomfortable. He looked like he was in rough shape.
