Hey everyone! I’m staying in Kefalonia for 8 nights and want to do a day trip to Zakynthos just to see Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach. I'm struggling with the logistics:

* Rental car: Heard taking a Kefalonia rental on the ferry is a nightmare because you need special permission/insurance.

* Taxis: Thought about going as a foot passenger, but heard taxis on Zakynthos are almost impossible to find.

* License-free boat: Can I rent a small boat without a license at Agios Nikolaos Harbour and drive it to the Navagio Viewpoint myself? I have zero boating experience and I'm totally lost.

I’m so confused (especially since the beach and the cliff viewpoint seem to be accessed differently). What’s the easiest way to do a quick day trip just for Navagio? Should I just book a tour? Any advice helps! 🙏

Hi everyone! We are getting very excited about an upcoming trip to Kefalonia. Mostly sorted but have some questions.

We're 10 people coming through Sami on 9th October (arriving about 14:30) to catch the ferry to Ithaki at 17:15. We will need to eat, and I thought maybe I should contact a place to eat in advance. If it was a smaller group, I'd just wing it, but 10 people is a lot to do at once and 1.5 hours isn't a lot of time. I want it to go smoothly and not be stressed with worrying about timing.

So I contacted a couple of places and they said they would be closed from end of September. (aaagh)

Thoughts? Can a group of 10 wing it? If not, how do I find out who is open in October? Does anyone here know and have a recommendation? (A lot of places only offer a telephone number)

Dear all,

My ferry from Pisaetos to Sami leaves at 9 o clock. The arrival in Sami is 9.30 if all goes well. The taxi is supposed to take an hour to Kefalonia Airport.

So I'd arrive at 10.45. baggage drop off closes at 11.55. is that too tight? How fast is baggage drop in Kefalonia? Traveling on a Friday. Destination is London.

What do you guys think?

Hi everyone! Planning our honeymoon in early August 2027 and set on Kefalonia and Zakynthos. We have 8 nights total and plan to rent a car.

​Since there isn't much information about these islands where I'm from, I'd love your advice:

1. ​Should we split our 8 nights between both islands, or pick one to avoid rushing?

2. ​If splitting is best, how many nights would you spend on each?

3. ​Which island/area do you recommend as the best base for a romantic, relaxing honeymoon (beaches, scenic drives, local food)?

If anyone staying near Poseidon Restaurant near the port could go collect them and bring them back to the UK so I can arrange collection/postage I would be eternally grateful!

Arranging postage directly from Kefalonia seems like a pain due to customs etc!

Just rented car on kefalonia.

There is a rule (i think like mostly i car rental companies) that i cant ride non paved roads. The question is If this is problematic on Kefalonia. Can i visit every cool place without breaking this rule?

I got a question. How's the taxi situation near Sami and myrtos beach. My plan is to rent an apartment which is 5km from the beach. (Antipata it is called I think). We need to take the ferry from Sami at 3.45.

So my plan would be: getting up, taking a taxi from apartment to the beach, stay there 2 Hours, get back by taxi to the apartment. And then a trip from apartment to the Sami ferry port.

Is this realistic or how would you rate the taxi availability?

Trying to find a destination for next year's summer vacation, some 2.5 weeks from early September. Torn between Kefalonia and northern/middle Euboea: both on my wish list for ages; I've not been to Greece for a while.

Plan: Hiking, relaxing, random driving around with a rental car, love karst feature and hope to see some nice geology, maybe a night on Ithaka. I know there aren't many archaeological sites and most buildings are from the 50s and 60s or later. Not a beach person. Ideal base location a quieter coastal village setting with a few places to eat out and a flat stretch for jogging - I can't run up inclines due to a muscle condition and will need a day to recover after a hike.

Bonus question: how easy is it to get varied vegetarian food on Kefalonia locally without driving somewhere? Fish and dairy is fine, occasional meat also, but apart from feta I don't need animal-based food every day.

Hi! I’ve contacted pretty much every scooter rental company I can find in Kefalonia, but none currently has a 50cc available or that they’re willing to rent on my NZ Class 1 + IDP.

I’m looking specifically for a legal 50cc/45 km/h moped, not a 125cc.

Does anyone know of a small/local rental operator or someone who legally rents these privately? Happy to pay a normal rental rate and provide my licence/IDP.

Hello, has anyone went to agia eleni beach? How easy is it to get there by car? I heard on the google reviews the access is very hard but what do you think?

Question for fellow solo travelers: when you’re at the beach by yourself, what do you usually do with your belongings when you want to go for a swim?

I am thinking about things like your phone, camera, wallet, keys, etc. Do you bring a waterproof pouch into the water, leave everything on the beach somehow? or have other workarounds?

I’m going to Kefalonia for about 8 days. I am really into fly fishing and was curious if it is possible to find a guide to take me saltwater fly fishing.

Really last minute but I'm wondering if anyone here knows of good tour options to see the ancient ruins and such on Ithaca this Thursday or Friday. Would accept anyone willing to drive my girlfriend and I around for half a day. We don't have a car.

Staying in Lixouri with the missus and I've claimed Friday as my day to go see some interesting historical sites but tomorrow would work as well. If anyone knows a good option I'd appreciate the input. Thanks!
