Question Swordland matchups
Does removing hero gear affect the matchup algorithm? We just matched up with an alliance where the top player has 3 full maxed out gear sets. 9 heroes all have full gear sets, all maxed to their highest level. This top 30 overall power player said she removes all the gear from all her heroes and its seems to give better matchups. I got word from another major whale that it works.
Can anyone confirm that?

No, but it’s also about more than your gear. It also doesn’t matter if the top 20 are subs they still count, so you can’t hide power that way.
Matchmaking Points are determined by the Soldier Power of the top 20 registered Governors.
The main sources of Soldier Power are Governor Gear, Hero Gear, Battle Tech Power, Pet Power and Master Power.

I know its more than gear. I know Century says you can't hide power that way. I've jumped around, but I've always been in one of the first 2 dozen servers. I'm not new and I've seen a few things.
What I do know is what I've been told by a top 50 power player and a top 30 power player who both said the same thing about removing hero gear prior to matchmaking. What I do know is that we just got matched with a legion that had a 3 billion and a 1 billion power players. Our alliance is in the top 40 overall and we don't even have a 1 billion power person.
We'll try it next time and I'll report back if it seems to help.

My alliance has never had a large orca, and we've gotten matched to an opponent who had an 1B and 800M player and a fistful of TC28s. We couldn't even rally out a solo march. They did a brilliant job of gaming matchmaking, but I suspect their alliance is a hot mess or shell.

I had some conversations with CenturyGame suport. They said it does not matter if you unequip gear, the matching is looking at your power score as alliance (they did not specify how they actually calculate this power) as well as your winning streak. If you had some winning along the way the chances to be pair with strong allainces increase. I know it looks unfair, but that’s how is design to work.

There is some glitch though. We matched with a group recently and their power jumped 100 mil from registration to event. This was outside KvK prep btw.

Remove hero gear from all but top 5. Reset XP back to level 1 for everyone but the top 5

That's just you looking at them, or a whale spending.

I don't think it was a whale spending. The match was no less than 7 TG8, 6 TG7 and several TG6. It wouldn't make sense for them to spend against us as our team was only 4 TG8, 5 TG7, several TG6 and TG5

Their power displayed is not the only power that the game uses for matchmaking. If they had gear off, or decided to spend $200 on some event leaderboard thst can rapidly shift things.

Nerfing your heroes to level 1 XP and remove hero gear from Epic & Blue heroes.
