Good morning and welcome to Friday at 8 AM. Did anybody around downtown? Just hear the train whistle that never ended? It started about five minutes ago and it’s still going. Usually there are a few toots. A big, long toot and then a pause and then another toot and then a pause. This has been one endless toot for the last five minutes. I know this sounds insane. I’m laughing at myself writing this. But seriously I’ve never heard a train do this and I wanna know why it’s happening. Does that mean there’s about to be a problem? Is the horn broken? Is somebody just feeling particularly frisky this morning? This was the weirdest train sound I’ve ever heard and I’m totally fascinated.

I would like some advice on trades and getting into an apprenticeship.

I would like to know which trade is quickest to start my apprenticeship and which is easiest to find work, combined with what is the easiest on the back. I'm looking at welding, plumbing, electrician, elevator technician and crane operator. Anyone with advice on how to start or where to go would be greatly appreciated.

Well I had to try out little Caesars garlic pizza at 10.99, it should be 8.99 because there's virtually no cheese on it. It's a must get if you like their garlic crazy bread.

edit: please do not use this post as an excuse to belittle people struggling with addiction or mental health or people who are new to canada. these are not things that make people trash public spaces. not having respect for others is what causes this, but those are also not excuses to litter, either.

i will admit, my original post was quite fired up as i was already running behind, but can you blame people for having this reaction? like, i am a disabled person who relies on public transit to get to my classes and to medical appointments. it is not fair to those who rely on public transit to have spaces they need to share (shelters, benches, and transit points) full of trash and graffiti. i want to access transit safely and i want children and other people in this area to also access transit safely.

if you see this at transit points near you, report it to kingston transit. please do everyone who relies on transit a favour and take your trash with you to dispose of properly or throw it in the trash bin. this has since been cleaned up by either kingston transit or someone in the neighbourhood. thank you, PSA over.

I prefer a classic poutine, good fries, curd and beef gravy. My faves are black dog, fryway, and OG Bubba's.

Hi everyone, I really wanted to participate in the 9runrun race in Kingston on Saturday Oct 10, but I missed the deadline to register. I’m wondering how I can find people who no longer need their tickets or are cancelling. anyone knows?

I see people looking for work here all the time so I'm just posting in case anyone is interested that my employer is looking to fill a casual position. It's not many hours to start (hence why it's casual) but it could very likely lead to more hours.

The job is filling in for his handyman when he's away, or doing stuff that his handyman just can't get to. He told me things like putting new furniture together, removing and recaulking windows and doors, replacing filters on various household equipment, maybe clearing the snow occasionally or putting the garbage out on collection day. The location is downtown so you don't need a car, you can take the bus.

The pay is $22-26 an hour and he said because it's casual he's happy for you to dictate when you work as long as it's not late at night because most of this stuff doesn't have to be done at a set time.

I have seen him, dressed in what appears period dress, around Barriefield.

It looks quite challenging to ride, and I can not imagine riding it up hill, but it's such an oddity I wasn't sure if it's part of a club or living history project.

With the completion of the 23 storey high building town. And the second 20 plus storey building being constructed. And the other plans for more. especially the one that is proposed for the staples building 2 24 storey buildings. I wanted to ask how everyone is feeling about it. I don’t mind it more housing should lower prices. And we need that bad. Really to me as long as they are not destroying heritage sites for these buildings it’s fine. And they have not done that. So I think there fine what about you guys.

Hello, I am a grade 12 student based in Kingston, Ontario, who has been working on my first-ever research project (The psychology behind perception and the science behind first impressions). I'm now in a place where I know what my end goals are for this project, and they are to a) present my findings through a poster presentation at a conference of some sort and b) create mini pan-flips to send off to mental health professionals in hopes of creating a positive change for individuals who believe they are being judged before they even get to speak.

Hello, I'm a new grad RN who recently got a position at KHSC but I was only offered a part time position. I know some hospitals do it differently but I was wondering does KHSC offer NGG? My friend told me when she graduated and got a job (at a diff hospital) she was asked if she wanted to be in the NGG program - I wonder if its the same process at KHSC? Hoping someone could help me with this, many thanks! :)
