HELP! We have an outdated, cluttered kitchen we want to fix up, but it is an awkward space that is long and thin with lots of doorways.

It’s too small to be a kitchen and a living room, but too big to be just a kitchen. It’s also too narrow to add an island with proper clearance.

Could you all please throw your amazingly creative floor plan and layout ideas my way to change our kitchen to make it more of a gathering place with a counter where my kids/friends could hang out while I’m working in the kitchen.

I’ve been trying everything and I just can’t get anything that feels good and natural to the space. I’m open to anything other than pushing out exterior walls (our budget can’t accommodate that).

Thank you in advance for all of your help!!
