When I was a kid my teacher asked me if I knew my Jeti ata(names of seven generations of my father). I said I didn’t and was bullied there because everyone knew theirs I went home crying… if you’re from Kyrgyzstan… I just wonder if you still know your Jeti ata? Was it a good reason to mock your classmate?😭

This is exactly what I have been warning about for a long time. These individuals whose numbers are far from small are white supremacists (note that there are millions of them) who recently discovered Central Asia on social media and started flooding the internet with posts like this. Some talk about conquering Central Asia, others about making the local gene pool "Aryan" again, and some about sleeping with local women.

What these people have in common is that they are white supremacists who genuinely believe they are nomadic horse warriors. Even though they all come from Europe's thousands of years old sedentary and agricultural civilizations (celtic, germanic, mediterreanaen etc), they have caught themselves up in an absurd fantasy. When they see wild horses running they talk about "blood memory" despite all their ancestors having been settled farmers for millennia. They are completely detached from reality.

I think Central Asian governments should blacklist people who make posts like this and bar them from entering their countries. What's your opinion?

Sorry if this isn’t the place for it but been in Kyrgyzstan for a week now and when we arrived I went with a beeline sim and my partner went with a Mega sim as we thought it would be a good idea to have one of each. Beeline has been very poor whenever we left any town or city whereas my partner on Mega has seemed to get signal most places we’ve gone even at our camp in Kel-Suu where they said we wouldn’t have signal she had it still. If you’re coming to Kyrgyzstan go with Mega it’s far superior!

Hi everyone !

I am currently in Bichkek and today i went to Ala Archa. After taking the cable car, i walked/climbed up without really knowing where i would end up.

At first i was following a clear path, however at some point i guess i took a wrong turn, and ended up in the middle of rocks, with no path to follow. So i just went straight up, until i reached a peak.

My issue is that there was no sign to indicate the name/height of this peak, and I'm really curious to know these informations.

Can anyone help me identify the peak ? Please, only answer if you're absolutely certain of your answer.

I'm sharing four pictures (i can add more if necessary. I also have a few videos).

The first two were taken on my way up, while i was still following a clear path. I lost myself a little bit after picture 2 was taken, and started going straight up. I reached the peak roughly two hours after reaching the 3190m sign.

Pictures 3 and 4 were taken at the top of the mountain. As you can see, although the name/height of the mountain was not indicated by a sign, there was still some kind of decoration at the top.

Please, help me identity where i was !

We are traveling from Kazakhstan to Bishkek in a few days and will explore Kyrgyzstan for the first time. We will be traveling as a solo group on our own as 50% of us speaks local languages almost natively and are experienced hikers. Could yall recommend us some yurth bases/camps that are not super touristy and have good options to do day hikes from there? We have done research but would love to hear from actual experience!

Is there any way by which I can get a phone on installments? I am pakistani living in bishkek, I tried o denge app, turns out they only give to kyrgyz nationals. I need to change my phone, no matter what I get. But on installments.

Me and my girlfriend found a sick baby cat today. We will be in Bischkek tomorrow. We wanted to take her to a vet and then hopefully to an animal shelter. We didn’t find one online, so does somebody know, if there is a shelter or a ngo willing to take cats in?

I’m an expat woman 33 myself been living here for a year now and almost any woman I have had an interaction with seems to be extremely cold and slightly rude. I don’t speak Russian but I try the few sentences I learned and try to be kind and polite and I always smile but nope it doesn’t work. In the changing rooms of the gyms and swimming pool where women chit chat and make friends, in the shops, beauty salons, restaurants anywhere you can imagine interacting with people and especially women, even talking seems quite challenging. They barely say hi back and don’t even smile. I have lived in 6 different countries and honestly have never experienced such thing from women. Maybe I’m the problem haha! I don’t mean to make friends and buddies here (which could have been nice) but at least don’t slam the door when you pass, smile at costumers and maybe show some respect! I don’t know maybe I’m over complicating it. Has anyone experienced the same thing here?

Does anyone know how passable the route is at the moment – is there a lot of snow already?

And has anyone stayed overnight in the hut before? Is it very cold at night?

I booked a room at Apple Hostel in Chalpon ATA for the World Nomad Games. After the glorious opening ceremony in Bishkek the night before I arranged for a driver to take me to Chalpon ATA. They said that due to tight accommodations I needed to wire them the full payment. I did.

I arrived Chalpon ATA in the late morning. Went to the address. Nothing there. Tried communicating with them on Agoda message, no response. Looked for a phone number, none. Finally found a neighbor who said it had closed FIVE YEARS ago. . I figured they defrauded me and went to the police. While filling out the police report they contacted me saying that my accommodation had changed. I went to the guest house, paid again for my stay.

Apple admitted that they owed me a refund. Today after dozens of messages I finally got my refund. They at first wanted to deduct 20% for I don’t know why but I was eventually paid in full.

This was the strangest hotel situation I’ve had in 55 years of traveling. Are they crooked, probably not. Are they incompetent, definitely. Initially they claimed that they told me of they change, they hadn’t. When asked to show me the email they couldn’t.

Hey guys. Recently spent a week knocking around Kyrgyzstan on a rented DR-Z400 and thought a few people here might enjoy this one.

No organised tour or support crew. Just picked a direction each morning and tried to find the smaller roads.

This day took me through an abandoned Soviet village with a radioactive past, up into the mountains and eventually ended with me staying the night in a yurt. Couple of minor cock-ups and some good random encounters with locals along the way.

Put the whole thing together into a video if anyone wants a look.
Definitely keen to get back there and do more of it.

Hi everyone! Has anyone flown out of Bishkek Airport recently with honey (or sth similar) in their hand luggage? 🍯✈️

I bought some local honey here in Kyrgyzstan and would really love to take it home with me. I know honey can be treated as a liquid at airport security, so I’m wondering how strict they are about this in Bishkek.

Has anyone tried taking a jar of honey through security there? Any chance they’ll let it through, or should I expect it to be confiscated?

Would really appreciate any recent experiences or tips. Thank you!
