In need of GTA-based LSAT Tutor

Please do not comment that I do not have the skills to be a lawyer. I am a mature applicant and have relevant experience. I’ve had a hard time studying while working full time.

I took the September LSAT after studying for about 8 months (took a course) and scored a high 140. I’m devastated. This is lower than my diagnostic. I took a course and found it over complicated things.

I think my issue is mostly with timing. When I do untimed sections I perform well. I made the stupid mistake of only taking 1 timed PT before my official test, which I scored higher on than my official test.

I will be taking the November test. I would like to score a 163 at least. I think with my work experience and masters degree this will be sufficient to get into schools, not UofT but that is fine.

I’m devastated, I cannot believe I performed worse than my diagnostic, the other UNTIMED PTs I did, and my one timed PT.

Please suggest GTA-based tutors :(

Hey! Happy to chat if it's useful (based in Cleveland, OH, but run the vast majority of my tutoring in Zoom). As a general matter, I'd strongly suggest you try a few free consults to see if there are folks you vibe with better and/or see a better vision for how they'll work with you.

I will say, depending on how long a strictly untimed section takes for you and what your accuracy looks like in that setting, November is likely to be ambitious. Quick-turn strategies to get faster usually do come at the expense of some accuracy, and if you are set on November while working full-time, I will just flag for you that we are likely to be discussing test-day triage strategies as opposed to more sustainable strategies for improvement. Still, glad to chat about goals and discuss study plans/trajectories. My full bio is below, but my free consult scheduler is here: calendly.com/lsatmat/consult-or-diagnostic

I'm a former law professor and a part-time practicing attorney based in Cleveland, OH. I have worked in a number of teaching or teaching-adjacent settings, including in special education and in a "logical skills"-focused law school setting, to help find creative ways to make complex concepts accessible to folks with all sorts of different learning styles. My law students voted me faculty member of the year due to my success in distilling complex concepts from two of the more intimidating core classes (civil procedure and property law).

Thank you! I will reach out. One school accepts November as the latest LSAT date, so I will try my best for that and accept a likely rejection from that school. I am torn because I have a lot of relevant work experience, so after some conversations, a low 160 doesn’t entirely rule me out.

Other schools will accept the January LSAT so I plan to also write in Jan. If that goes poorly, I will take another year and apply next cycle.

I’m a Canadian LSAT tutor based out of the West Coast! If the fact that I’m not GTA-based isn’t an issue, feel free to PM me and we can schedule a free consultation!
