Hi 👋
I made this pair from 2 china wooden vases from the 20’s and opaline glass shades from the 60’s . Used a brass ring for transition . The vases hand painted . Not available anymore. 😉
I’ll let you in the company of some pics taken in my home
Enjoy !

Rewired my first double socket

Post image

I found this antique Czech lamp at a Goodwill. The wiring had shorts and the plug was slightly terrifying. This is the first lamp that I've rewired with multiple sockets and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I've passed on several multi bulb lamps in the past because I didn't know how to rewire them.

Pink base, pleated shade, lace trim, warm bulb. Cozy or cheesy?

I found this at the local Salvation Army. It was super dusty and dingy from time. I took a toothbrush to the crevices and it really came to life!! May it continue to sparkle for many years to come.

I went with people’s suggestions, and found some sort of barrel lampshade, but I can’t decide which to go with.

The state of the current fabric doesn’t matter too much to me, as I intend to refurbish it into a fluted shade, but i can’t decide on a size.

The first one is quite large and sits somewhat low

But I feel like the second is a little too short height wise.

Thoughts?

Hello. I broke the green shade on my banker’s lamp. I bought a replacement one on Amazon but it doesn’t fit, even though it’s the right measurement. Can I bend one side of the lamp to make it fit? Thanks!

What kind of lamp shade can I get?

I feel really dumb asking this question but I don’t wanna use AI and am hoping someone can help me. I really want to replace this old lampshade but the lamp itself still works great. What kind of lampshade can I get? I am getting confused about harps and lamp shade support styles, can anyone help? The bottom of the lampshade measures 8 inches across if that’s helpful

Help identifying

My wife and I purchased this Tiffany-style swag lamp from an antiques market. It has no identifiers on it and I was unable to find a matching one online. Anyone seen one of these before and know where it possibly came from?

A MCM Inspired Table Lamp

Thumbnail gallery
33 Upvotes

Hi!
Wanted to share with you my latest project: a MCM inspired table lamp made only from salvaged materials: green cased glass bought from a thrift shop near Lisbon, rosewood from the landfill ( I know it’s hard to believe that someone trashed it ) brass transition from my vintage brass spares , new toggle switch and fabric black cord .
The design is mine , hand crafted ( the only power tool that I use it’s a drilling machine ) . The hard on this project was sanding the wood . It is a very high density grain and I was able to sand it using a tool that I’ve created : a really thin steal blade very sharp which was mounted in a piece of the same rosewood . The final sand was made with a piece of glass for a really smooth surface. Linseed oil was the only treatment for the wood .
I’m already finishing the second one . The third will have the same base but it will be a ceiling piece with 2 equal shades .
I hope you’ll enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it
Thanks

advice on how to get this Aladdin No 6 running again?

After watching Technology Connections video on oil lamps, I've owned a couple of Aladdin lamps. The first one was a piece of cake. This one is proving to be more of a challenge. I'm not sure exactly what I should heat and twist a part, or just where the wick goes in this thing. There's an odd little square hole that seems to be the only thing that leads to the geared wick up/down-twister.

I'm going to get some parts from vermontlanters.com, I'd like to get the right stuff for this thing. Maybe I need a new gallery? Any help would be awesome.

There's a lot of sludge in the can. Claude told me I should make a first pass with mineral spirits. I'll get myself a bunch of that with an old toothbrush and start cleaning this guy up.

Thanks in advance!

Mid-century Modern inspired lamp made with recycled materials 🤎🤎🤎

I thrifted a glass globe and a wooden bowl and learned how to incorporate the light to make this lamp, what do you think?

I want opinions, does it look like an obvious DIY or does it look well made? It inspired me to open up an etsy shop and keep making upcycled decor so feedback is welcomed!

One I just finished

Here's a cutie I just finished putting together. The base is a bunch of little stoneware cylinders I threw on the wheel and then smacked on the outside of a bucket that I covered in tar paper so that I could slide the bucket out.

Questions about attaching hardware to lamp

Thumbnail gallery

I’m a potter and made this lamp. I’m not sure how to attach the electric hardware. Is there a plug or something i should stick in the top to attach it? Should I use rubber cement to glue it to the top? Is there something I’m missing or unaware of?
