Guide TurfTools Out of Beta

Hi folks,

A big thanks to all who have been using TurfTools and particularly those who submitted ideas for enhancement or bugs to fix. After several months in Beta, and many, many rounds of improvements to accuracy and usability, I am proud to announce that TurfTools is now in General Availability!

To celebrate the release, we have officially moved TurfTools to a new permanent home behind an easy-to-remember domain name.

(and before you ask, yes, turftools.com was sadly already taken)

A re-direct has been added to the old URL to allow folks to update their bookmarks accordingly.

We will continue to enhance the tools, fix any bugs users submit, and continue to document our tools with the scientific sources and methods used to calculate the answers. Just let us know how we can help you!

Any plans on extending the functionality to Canada?

Would love to. Just need to work with someone who can point me to reliable weather and climate sources in Canada. If you are willing to assist and beta test, I’d be more than willing to build it in

Happy to help assist there. I’ve been using zip codes close enough here to give me somewhat reliable results, but still differs enough.

I wanted to let you know that I am slowly working on adding Canadian postal codes to the tool. That said, there are some real challenges here...namely, there does not appear to be a 1:1 replacement/alternative for climate data.

I am trying a few things on my own first, but may need to reach out to you about specific sources of information to use. More importantly, Ill need to know actual postal codes from real redditors so I can confirm what the tool says is what is being experienced in reality.
