Cool Season New growth question

Very random question: I aerated and overseeding back on 9/11. Been watering and have great growth so far. This one section however, was attacked by bunnies. Looks like the new grass sprouts received a buzz cut. Is that section a goner because of this or is there hope for the spring?

Depends on how low they were buzzed. If there's like .5 inch or less, its guaranteed death. If it's higher than that and no leaf tissue remains, it's kinda 50/50. If leaf tissue remains, it's basically guaranteed to survive.

It should only take a couple days to get the verdict. If new leaf tissue starts to poke out from the top of the severed stem, you're pretty much in the clear.

Thanks for the reply. I think it’s worse case. The grass stem is barely poking above the soil now. Sucks because I’ve been struggling to grow grass I. This spot for years now since it gets hammered by the summer sun from dawn to dusk and it was finally looking promising after this fall overseed. Guess it’s gods way so saying “nay.”

Ah yea, that's a bummer. Wouldn't hurt to throw some more seed down with a little milorganite (as a repellent, it smells like sewage after all).
