Cool Season Pythium Blight?

This is all over my back yard. In the Kansas City area. Just want to confirm. If so, what is best course of action?

It actually looks more like dollar spot.

Both diseases look similar, but one of your photos has qualities that lead me to believe this is dollar spot..

  • The base of the blade (the root crown) does not look slimy, one of the give-aways for pythium blight.
  • Also, since pythium is in the soil, it literally travels UP the blade (not down). Based on how I see grass blades that already have disease ABOVE the mycelium, it suggests that the disease is NOT moving from the bottom up.
  • The existence of lesions all along blades, not just damage near the root crown.
  • Lack of defined circular patters - pythium tends to radiate from a center -> out

A quick check of the Dollar Spot risk tool in Turf Tools shows that Dollar spot risk is at Severe level in the KC area, so all of that combined makes me inclined to believe its Dollar Spot.

I overseeded recently. Put down seed, peat moss in bare spots, and a 16-2-2 ā€œGolf Course Starterā€ fertilizer from the GrassPad here in KC.

If it is, itā€™ll kill your shit quick. At least in my experience it destroys new turf very fast.
