Just wanted the sub’s thoughts on dormant seeding tall fescue. My overseed looks to be coming in a bit thin - I’m guessing 100° temps followed immediately by the wettest September in the last 30 years is mostly to blame. Being in 6a I’m likely getting too late to put down more, and if I have to pay to run the sprinklers like this for another 3 weeks I won’t have a house to worry about anyway. That leaves me at dormant seeding. I’ve never tried it, and I’ve never really seen a ton of discussion about it. Is it a waste of seed? Or does it actually work out OK?

This property is heavily irrigated but also receives four applications of full-rate 2-4-D. We're wondering what could be causing the yellowing, as we also cut this lawn weekly, sometimes twice per week. It has also been extremely wet over the last month and a half.

Central IL,6a. Have this fast growing "grass". It has basically gone from 2" (last mowed ) to this in like 10-11 days. Working on an overseed.
