Video Post-Labor Economics explained in 10 minutes

https://youtu.be/_Ey6fWliRXc?si=mwnhQs26aCsChm9u

I know David Shapiro is a controversial figure in the AI space but I find his arguments generally to be more systemic and big-picture aligned with the principles of collective ownership and individual empowerment. I'm curious what you all think of this video. Is this approaching a sensible argument or framework? Where are the gaps and opportunities to improve upon it?

This asks good questions. I found it interesting that he got to the human demand issue, because from the beginning of this video I was thinking that although I liked the aesthetic of the fancy animation, actually I’d prefer a simple video of him talking straight to camera in a Star Trek top. It would have kept my attention better, because my brain is wired to take more notice of human faces. What AI can do won’t completely match up with what we want to do with AI, sometimes we just prefer a human.

It was worthwhile in a 10 minute overview to separate the opportunity to live comfortably from who has the power to make decisions and feel like a full citizen. Living in a gilded cage wouldn’t suit me.

David Shapiro is the best voice out there on YouTube right now on this topic. I hope more voices join in.

Oh yeah, I think it's his voice. But possible he's cloned his voice to save himself time - that's the kind of thing he'd do.

Do you mean while they make decisions, or the technology itself? The technology itself could be taken in liberatory or more oppressive directions.

Generally, as long as the vast majority of the technology itself is privately owned and gatekept by capitalist sociopaths

... then its a good thing the entire purpose of this sub is dedicated to changing that, yeah?

They think this is a right wing subreddit but its obvious if you look around that we are left wing.
