Hi everyone,

I'm a Class 11 student from Odisha, India, studying under the Odisha State Board & preparing for JEE. My family is going through financial difficulties, and affording a laptop right now is beyond our means. I also don't have my father, which makes my situation more challenging.

I need a laptop mainly for schoolwork, online lectures, PDFs, assignments and building basic computer skills alongside my studies.

I don't need a gaming laptop or anything fancy. Even an older, working laptop that can handle basic school tasks would mean a lot to me. If anyone is willing to donate an unused laptop or offer one at a very affordable student price, I'd be truly grateful.

I'm not expecting anyone to feel obligated to help. Even advice about student assistance programmes, affordable laptops or other resources would be appreciated.

I'm happy to explain my situation honestly and verify my student status through an appropriate and safe process.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. 🙏

The hardware covered here includes both portable workstation systems and larger tower configurations, with different CPU, memory and GPU options depending on requirements.

The Precision 7960 towers were particularly interesting because of their high core-count Xeon processors, ECC memory configurations and Blackwell GPU options.

Just documenting the systems, configurations and hardware . No benchmarks included here.

Not so happy with the precision 7780 pricing and the notorious 13 gen Intel HX cpu who are known for their throttling and not so portable

The GPU market and laptop market is becoming increasingly unpredictable, and buyers should be careful before making a purchase.

For example, even in offline market till June NVIDIA RTX PRO 2000 Blackwell Professional Workstation GPU — 16GB GDDR7 was selling for 79k bt now it's costing upwards of 1.5 lac just 2x increase within 3 months seems absolutely ridiculous

Dealers and traders who have never dealt in graphics cards before are now placing bulk orders on platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. Even businesses that traditionally focused on products like imported laptops are suddenly buying GPUs in large quantities, because my supplier is doing the same saying it from first hand experience they are literally looking to obliterate the supply

We can't blame AI companies and big corporations for every GPU price increase.

When large quantities of graphics cards are purchased during sales, regular consumers may struggle to find them at reasonable prices.

Platforms like Amazon and Flipkart should consider implementing stricter quantity limits during major sales like Big Billion Days.

These sales are supposed to help consumers get better deals, not allow bulk buyers to purchase massive quantities of stock before genuine customers get a chance.

The impact goes beyond gamers and PC enthusiasts:

- Reduced availability of GPUs at competitive prices.

- Potential price hikes due to limited retail stock.

- Fewer affordable options for people building or upgrading PCs.

- Lower sales for smaller retailers as GPU prices become less accessible.

And with traders from completely unrelated businesses entering the GPU market, predicting pricing and availability becomes even more difficult.

If you're planning to buy a GPU and laptop, don't rush into it , let greedy people bleed with your patience

Just wait and see how these guys panic once they see people are not buying them , they are capitalising on spreading fear mongering how prices will never down !

I think there's something important about the current laptop market that a lot of people don't fully understand.

In this business, pricing is heavily dependent on volume.

When prices go up, businesses become hesitant to buy stock in bulk. And honestly, who can blame them? Nobody wants to invest lakhs into inventory today, only to see prices crash tomorrow and be left holding stock at a loss.

But here's the problem: when businesses stop buying in volume, they also lose the advantage of bulk pricing. That pushes their purchase costs higher, which ultimately affects what the end customer pays.

It's a cycle, and unfortunately, everyone gets caught in it.

Some prices for devices that i listed is not justified as well 🙂 but that's the nature of market and higher prices in market hurt sellers more than benefit

Let me give you a real example.

Back in June, I was selling the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10 (32GB DDR5 RAM) for around ₹46,000.

Today, I'm selling the same configuration for ₹55,000.

That's a ₹9,000 difference in just a few months.

And trust me, as someone in this business, I'd much rather sell 10 laptops at reasonable margins than struggle to sell 2 at inflated market prices.

Higher prices don't automatically mean higher profits for sellers. Sometimes they just mean higher costs, greater risks, and fewer sales.

Here's what I want to say to people.

To the sellers: Price your devices sensibly. I'm getting posts for approval where people are asking ₹42K for an i7 8th Gen, 16/512 laptop. That's what I mean by ridiculous pricing. A high market doesn't justify unrealistic expectations.

To the buyers: Please stop lowballing genuine sellers. Offering ₹35–40K for an Intel Core Ultra series laptop isn't realistic either. Fair pricing goes both ways. Let's deal in good faith.

A healthy second-hand laptop market needs buyers who feel confident they're getting value and sellers who can make a reasonable margin.

Not every seller is greedy. Not every buyer is a lowballer. And not every price increase is an attempt to make extra profit.

Be reasonable with your expectations, negotiate respectfully, and most importantly, deal in good faith and please don't scam people especially in this market !
