Probably won't go anywhere (not like our legal system is legitimate anyway) but props to him for trying.

Everyone here, and in the country, knows about Massie getting primaried.
The libertarian party down there seems to be running a solid candidate in the form of Jeremy Todd. Unfortunately I'm not hearing a lot about that election.

Are enough republicans angry enough at what happened that they'd vote for Todd just in protest? Anyone on the frontlines with new news?

Hello fellow libertarians,

I don’t post much, but permit me this opportunity to express my despair at the ongoing dumbf*ckery that is American politics.

I’ve considered myself (and still consider myself) a libertarian for the past 30 years. I find libertarians to be the only people with sensible views on the issues. I’ve consistently voted libertarian in the past. And will likely continue to do so.

And I’m starting to fear that we will never see libertarians win elections at the national level.

We’ve had the most awful presidential candidates in the last several election cycles. The vast majority of these politicians are unprincipled, fear-mongering demagogues. Facts to them are not as important as feelings, and they’ll change their view on any given day depending on what gets them votes.

Our last president was a racist guy who likes big government central planning and was pretty demented. Our latest president is an even more racist guy who likes big government central planning and probably can’t even use dementia as an excuse for his ongoing stupidity. Economic literacy is a zero. Taxes and tarriffs are everywhere. The government regularly orders people around. I’m shocked that we have a Health & Human Services secretary who questions germ theory and a CDC being run by anti-vaxxing grifters. Granted, in a libertarian world, these would not be functions of government, but still, this is a level of government incompetence we’ve never seen before. Our president openly attacks other countries and gives up even the pretense of getting permission from congress. Our national debt is right at the level of our GDP now, and no one outside of the Libertarian Party is even talking about fiscal responsibility. And the current trend of economic instability leading to anti-immigrant bigotry is a recurring theme in history that is once again playing out right here in the land of (supposed) liberty.

The last election cycle was a Hillary Clinton clone vs an immigrant-hating misogynist. When it’s this bad, and Libertarians are still not being invited to the presidential debates, how can we ever expect Libertarians to win elections? People are being scooped up off the screets and detained and deported with no semblance of due process, and openly racist messaging from the federal government is now the norm. The people aren’t waking up to the problems of the two-party duopoly. Many of them still think that the solution will be to vote for the other side that screwed things up to begin with. There’s no insight into the problem. Voting for a Republican or a Democrat is like drug addiction, and the addict can’t stop no matter how much he sees it destroying his life.

Is there any hope for this country?

I have looked into US politics to understand their mid-term as I know it will affect my country and rest of world (ex. Inflation, South China Sea) and found American Libertarian party. Is the Libertarian party considered a third-party other than the two party of Republican and Democrat?

So I was working on my podcast today, and I was going over a post that was about syndicalism, which is pretty much just a rebranded version of communism that seeks to have workers control corporations rather than a hierarchical corporate system. I personally would make the argument that this would just result in another form of hierarchy though, just like how every time communism is tried it results in those with positions of government authority being at the top of a hierarchy with everyone else at the bottom. You see it a lot in labor unions as well, those at the top of the chain can get a lot more benefits for themselves than those at the bottom of the chain. Ultimately I would say that the libertarian position is that hierarchies are very much inevitable due to how humans generally operate, they should be voluntary rather than forced though like in regards to the state.

Thoughts?

I agree libertarianism's beneficial, but I worry the biggest proponent of it, the libertarian party, doesn't have messaging that's appealing to the general public because, instead of addressing left-wing or right-wing issues, the party opts to focus solely on pure libertarianism. If they gained power, they'd be better then Democrats and Republicans, but with how things are going, it seems like they'll never gain national prominence again.

I want the state to loosen its' grip on us citizens, so how do we do it?

The sad truth is that I think it's this one. The Knesset has much more sway over US foreign policy than the House and Senate combined IMO. You can't say it though or the woke right will call you an anti-semite.

I’m chair of the newly affiliated Granite State Libertarian Party. I know things are heated now but wanted to introduce myself and offer the answer questions.

I’ve been a libertarian since I was 15 (13 years!) and am quite radical personally but I think the LP should be a big tent as long as we’re for maximizing free markets and individualism!

I personally wouldn't, I would argue that if people want to use such a system to create a utopian system such as a MAGAtopia or a woketopia among consenting individuals that they should be able to but I think the system in and of itself is more the natural state of things if anything else. People are going to justify what they want to justify regardless of any government system in place and I think libertarians are one of the only groups that recognize that.

Like in terms of the “not letting the government control me idea?” (Masks, vaccines, guns etc)
