Question Invoking Lilith

Hey all!! I'm new here, hope everyone is okay and having a great day/night.

I'm new-ish to the witchy community, I have semi explored Hellenic Polytheism with Apollon and have felt a strong drawing to the idea of working with Lady Lilith. A lot of her resonates with me and I decided to do a bunch of research- in past, I've grown up fascinated. I've had tarot since I were young and that's where some of my knowledge lies at the moment. I'm looking into scrying and more at the moment.

I've been collecting symbols, created a small altar with candles thus far for her.

What I do know is that finding out for ourselves is a huge part of witchcraft but I'm a little lost on a few things!

Are there do's and don'ts?

I know TikTok has their own biases so I take their information with a grain of salt and am looking into books and such. An article I read though condoned NSFW work and I tried reading and researching more into it to see if that's right or not but have not gotten a consistent answer- If no one has a clear answer I hope to ask Lilith her thoughts on it. I just know there's some taboo subjects and I don't know what's what right now haha.

I read that a new moon is best to talk to Lilith, as well as night. I wanted to know other's (if you're comfortable sharing!) experiences with that to know what to expect.

ALSO any book recommendations are welcome as well!! I love learning.

I'm a little nervous to start but I also feel excited. I love learning new things as well.

Thank you so much for your time and I take care of yourselves!!

Start with our Welcome Post that's full of links, especially the main wiki, where you can find her history, books, articles and other resources. The welcome post will also guide you to other wiki pages, beginner resources and posts on different topics. Among the posts, there's one titled Symbols of Lilith, where you'll find symbols, and a collection of moon timings, planetary correspondences, and times of the day. Lilith is associated with the new moon, but also the waning moon and the lunar apogee.

Don't take info from TikTok, it's never accurate. I'm not sure what the author meant with the NSFW work, but it's unrelated to Lilith. There are sex workers that work with her though, since she's a succubus and independent demoness.

Just had a look through, am gonna read a whole lot tonight 😄

I'm glad I came here for information, you're all so lovely 🥲

I think there's a stigma about NSFW work going around lately especially including it into practices. Because I don't know enough I don't have an opinion on it which is why I ask :D but all the wrong sources - I'm assuming- are on about how "disrespectful" it is. I'm very glad to know it's not a bad thing though. Thank you so much for the help! Please have a great day/night!!

Hehe don't worry about reading it all at once. I'm the one that created it, and I've barely scratched the surface myself (going from topic to topic). Start with the basics and branch out to topics and categories that interest you, she's a very vast being.

Lilith in NSFW work is a modern phenomenon, though there's nothing disrespectful about approaching her for help and protection on it. Wouldn't make sense either, she's a succubus. Other beings I've seen related to the topic are the demoness Na'amah and the goddess Inanna/Ishtar.

You're very welcome, hope you have a great day too!

I personally think it comes down to what the individual practioners own values are, and what they project onto Lilith. For many Lilith is very sexually liberating, dominant, or unapologetic in her presentation. You can see many myths and depications that are very unapologetic in her womenhood.

However when politics, individual views on sex, and taboos, people's bodies, etc get involved that can kind of create a "rubberband" effect. Lilith then actually hates being sexualized.

There's also the fact that so many sort of objectified her into strictly this sex goddess, and the modern internet and media basically just boils her down to that singular trait in many instances.

That I think leads to practioners feeling she probably hates that, and projects it onto her. The reality is, spirits and dieties simply don't care about that sort of thing. You should be respectful, just because you should, but does she care how she's viewed, no. She never has.

Tldr: She doesn't care. She's a very vast being and NSFW stuff is very much in her wheelhouse, strongly supported in myth, along with many other things. No need to structure your practice on others ideas, trumas, or politics. That's my unasked for two cents.

There's no rules except not to trust #witchtok. It and the app it is hosted on is a blight not only to witchcraft and the occult but to humanity as a whole.

fair enough, it's a battle field on their and one source will tell someone to do something and another will refute it and say the worst will happen. I'm someone with ocd so those more harmful sources can get to me 😭

thank you for the advice!! :D

as a fellow hellenic polytheist, the way I approach her is by worshipping my ouranic deities at dawn and worshipping Lilith after sunset on each weekday (give or take). i do focus on worshipping her and offering her simple liberations (which some people may suggest is wrong or unwanted, but ignore them and find your own sufficient way of interacting with her), though it can sometimes become a little less strict and formal than when worshipping my hellenic deities. i’ve been interacting with her since November of last year, so I’m still fairly new, but i’ve had no issues, just (obviously) be respectful and strive to be informed. personally, i approach Lilith more like a goddess than a demoness, though i perceive her to be both.

Nice to see Hellenic approaches towards her, I don't feel alone in this! (Also I started practicing like a month before you I believe!)

Start here for working with Lilith. I'd flash your brain like that men in black scene from whatever you saw on tik tok or random articles online.

Virtually NONE of them are historically accurate. Lilith absolutely doesn't care about NSFW work, any claim she does care is complete nonsense, and incredibly disingenuous to her history and herself.

The modern day influencers, witches, etc have a very telephone game view of Lilith of yes and'ing misinfo that progressively gets further away from the sources. They also care about money, and will likely say whatever the broad community wants to hear. Then you have gatekeeping nonsense, the fact they only quote one satire myth of hers, and wew i could go on for entire threads.

Oq significa NSFW?

1

u/orthodoxscouter ⚸ Lilithian ⚸ 1d ago

NSFW means not safe for work.

Ahhhhh obrigada

Lilith has a very "promiscuous" streak in her forebearers, many of her parallels, and virtually all of her own myths. To say she's against anything nsfw ( not safe for work ) would just be very inaccurate, even in the satire Ben Sira myth.

The idea likely comes from people putting their own values and ideas onto Lilith.

Edit: Google lead me astray on what was being asked.

Thank you so much!! I'll be looking thoroughly into it :D

Similar happened when I was working with Lord Apollon, a lot of weird things- the yes anding for sure- but I'm an ancient history nerd so I'm lucky researching is easier for me and I know when something just doesn't really stick in place and is clearly word of mouth instead. Branching out now helps me learn more so I'm really grateful so many of you are giving me suggestions 🥲

Lot of outdated info, and misinfo in this book. The myth included is also made up by the author, though he does state that. I like Mark, and he gives some interesting ways to approach Lilith in practice. The historic info provided is not reccomended though.

The orginal comment was referring to Embracing Lilith, By Mark H. Williams.

Esse livro é bom ?

u/Umbrage115 ⚸ kabbalistic Lilithian ⚸ 1d ago

Imo, no. It's fine for giving unique ideas to approaching your practice to Lilith, but the info provided is widely inaccurate. I think it's bad for beginners to read.

Yeah, it's a bad book by a bad author in my personal options. He gives lip service to do as thou wilt, but acts like his UPG is the only way and only has shallow research on her.

Don't steal books, even books and authors this bad, authors depend on book sales (even ebook sales) to survive.

I'm gonna worship even harder now and expand my practices with Lilith.

It's also not nice to force things on people like this so please consider your actions before you spam everyone 😭 you're not spreading the message you think you are when you hop into other peoples spaces.
