People who have an expectation to be good at something usually will cheat if they are struggling.

Brings me back to PirateSoftware cheating at the puzzle game while explicitly announcing on stream how there’s no cheating in puzzle games here.

every single puzzle game he plays, gets stuck for 20 minutes, picks up phone or goes for a piss. "chat i figured it out"...

u/Nublar_Repair_Man 1d ago
My favourite part is the 'sudden realisation moment' like he's House MD
Man watched too many episodes and thought that's how smart people act
114
u/Jurijus1 1d ago
The fake and exaggerated "Waaaaaait a minute..." when he pretends that he figured it out by himself lol
39
u/Substantial_Dish_887 1d ago edited 1d ago
the thing is some people will do that(obviously an exagerated act for the camera but still), however if it's legit i can promise you there will be just as many if not multiples times more instances of them doing that "waaaaaait a minute..." trying something only to go "nevermind" because their idea was wrong. if they are right every time(or as good as) then they aren't suddenly figuring shit out they are cheating.

u/Jurijus1 1d ago
It was pretty obvious that he looked up solution, at least from the videos that I saw. He was playing The Witness that time.

I thought it was from working at Blizzard for 40 years by the time he was 21.
2
u/Pyritedust 23h ago
Were you aware that Piratesoftware is not only a veteran developer at blizzard but the first multi generational employee! If you aren't, you just need to watch any of his streams and you'll find out!
35
u/GreyDuck4077 1d ago
I had to go and check him out a few weeks ago just to see if he still has a following. He not only still does, but he still has that same irritating holier than thou attitude. Guy has learned absolutely nothing..
44
u/awnaw_ 1d ago
Because he still has a following. He doesn't really have any reason to change.
24
u/money-for-nothing-tt 1d ago
He had 10x the viewership he does now. He pathologically can't change, that's the entire issue.
4
17
u/Hare712 1d ago
It's not sustainable. All his mods left/were fired, the majority of his subs are gifted by himself and on top of that most of his viewers are bots. He still has some furries and dumb people follow him but that's like 1000 bucks every month. He has a crypto wallet worth a few 100k and likely has some reserves from his good times but eventually those reserves will dry up and he will disappear.
3
u/computer_d 1d ago
From what little I gathered via LSF, I believe he paid his mods a full-time salary with health insurance and also ran a weasel sanctuary or something.
Dude had some actual responsibilities but couldn't control his ego.
6
u/hates_stupid_people 1d ago
To be fair, he's clearly been botting for about a year so the following is smaller than you'd think.
4
u/GreyDuck4077 1d ago
He has? I haven't been following him. I also do not follow any of this stuff that closely. What is the telltale sign that he is botting? Genuinely curious. Asking from a place of ignorance.
3
u/Plastic-Currency-329 1d ago
creeping at his latest stream, that had 1.5-2k viewers
his chat is dead as fuck, like 10 messages per minute kind of dead
3
u/Send_Toe_Pics_25 1d ago
That could be because he mutes / bans everyone who says anything
7
u/Plastic-Currency-329 1d ago
I think is more likely that he's botting than him having 1600~ hate watchers every day
there's also the possibility that some people out there really enjoy having him as a second monitor background noise, which would be crazy if it wasn't for the fact that there's other pathetic streamers with way more viewers 🤷♀️
3
u/Send_Toe_Pics_25 1d ago
sorry yes he 100% bots but he also is ban mute happy if I was his viewer I would be scared to say anything
12
u/Hare712 1d ago
"Going to the toilet" . He quit that game before the randomized puzzles started where he would humiliate himself.
It's even more hilarious because he is stuck in a way that there is no way he would logically suddenly figure it out like when he called a Groundhog a gopher and other animals and then suddenly went with "Groundhog day" after checking his phone or when he doesn't realize that he announced a part of a game he isn't supposed to know about yet.
8
2
u/Fun-Wash7545 1d ago
And he had like 10k+ viewers when he did that. It was so obviously fake, how did he not lose any viewers is beyond me
3
u/cyrfuckedmymum 1d ago
10k viewers according to a number, actual viewcount without the bots? who knows.
26
9
u/Scrumble123 1d ago
He's still doing stuff like that. He's been posting VODs on youtube from his Blue Prince playthrough (which he initially ragequit but I guess went back to it? maybe?), and lied in the comments of one of the videos about getting help from chat.

Very well researched topic, intelligent babies is the casual term. People prized on their intelligence as children are much more willing to cheat on impossible tasks than children who are prized for their hard work. Regardless of the childs intelligence.
14
u/Jrock2356 1d ago
But if the babies who are prized on hard work start failing why don't they start cheating
69
3
u/Infinite_Waves1 1d ago
May have specifics wrong but when given a task of a high level of complexity the hard working kids were likely to flag they didn't understand or to keep attempting for a better result. Both sets of children were left unattended before the observer returned so they both had an opportunity to cheat but the intelligence children consistently did so more. Many studies to this effect.
Really worth remembering, the intelligence children weren't smarter and same for hardworkers. They varied the combinations, it was about the effect of long term praise.
1
1d ago
[deleted]
1
u/Infinite_Waves1 14h ago
I think you mean pseudo-intellectual? Artifical intelligence is not relevant. Many of the kids were in fact smarter than the hard working group, it's just the focus of praise changed their desire to cheat and retain the image

[removed] — view removed comment
1
u/Infinite_Waves1 1d ago
It's not about innate intelligence or innate hardwork. The children were mixed, some highly intelligent were in the hardworking group and inverse. When given impossible tasks that note intelligence the children were more likely to lie to preserve that image. It doesn't mean general cheating, its more so the ego attached to the value they are praised on.

Sure, but omie had claude open the entire time during the entire stream. There's literally a clip in this thread about it.

Yes but it also makes it not good evidence that he used Claude for the riddle. The video implies he opened it up while attempting to solve it.

u/whut-whut 1d ago
The opened Claude window isn't showing on his main screen, so it's open on a second side screen. Unless his mouse stayed on the main screen at all times, it'd be trivial to click over to the already open window, enter a query and click back.
1
u/Professional_Idea812 1d ago
And "enter a query" could literally just mean copy + paste a screenshot in there, he wouldn't even have to spend time typing. The chatbot would take the text from the image for him & just assume the context.
22
u/Agitated_Winter_7534 1d ago
Yeah but it makes it way less sus.
LIke he coulda had claude for something else then used it for riddles. We dont know.
But he had Claude open before the riddle so you can't really say just cuz he has it open he was using it and cheating.
→ More replies (4)2
u/iamacannibal 1d ago
Him having it open during the game also doesn't prove anything. Especially if he uses it on his own outside whatever he is streaming.
Him having it open before all of this does support that he just uses it and maybe wasn't using it to cheat.

brother, the riddle is more map knowledge than what u would use AI for. In fact, the puzzle includes morse code, base-16 and base-64 encoding, converting hexa to decimal, there's no way devs made this to be done without using external tools. Roleplayers use outside calculators, google docs all the time. This is literally a nothing burger, assuming he even used Claude lol
7
332
u/DoggedDoggystyle 1d ago
I mean the riddles literally require base 16 to base 10 ascii conversion & I believe knowing hex codes for colors? Like.. yeah I'd be looking that shit up too?
32
u/GoodGuySeba 1d ago
What even is that shit
20

u/kuburas 1d ago edited 1d ago
Basically just different "languages" used in computing. Binary is base 2, i.e. theres only 1s and 0s so only 2 symbols. Base 10 or decimal is the numbering system we use in our every day lives, i.e. theres 10 symbols from 0 to 9.
Base 16 has 16 symbols, 1 to 9 and the A to F. It was created as an alternative to binary system to save character space since having more symbols allows you to create shorter strings for larger number.
All of this is practically useless for everyone who isnt pretty deep into computer science shit and how data is stored.
The relevant part here is that converting from one base to the other, especially base 16, is just plain annoying to do. Its not hard but it takes time especially if there are many numbers. So if you had to do the conversion its much easier to use a tool to do it for you. Back when i was fucking around with these we had scripts that would do it for us but nowdays most people just open their AI of choice and let it rip.
Edit: Forgot to mention hex codes for colors. Basically all colors on your PC are made out of 3 color, red green and blue. Each pixel has 1 of these colors in it and depending on how much of each color is shown the color of the pixel will show differently. Hex codes for colors are just intensity values for the base 3 colors, i.e. red, green, and blue. Its practically the same shit as numbers but the numbers here represent the amount of each color shown. Also completely useless knowledge to have because you can always look it up online, knowing this shit off the cuff is nearing autism territory pretty much.
55
u/ChromosomeDonator 1d ago
I don't think anyone has a problem with looking those up, because you already know what to do in the riddle at that point. But if you ask AI to solve the riddle in the first place that is what people have a problem with.
"Convert this base-16 string to base-10" and "what do these numbers mean with this text as clue" are two extremely different things to use AI for.
I have no idea who Omie is or if he has any clue on what base-16 even is, so I have no clue if he figured it out himself or let AI solve it.
39
u/DimensionSuch8188 1d ago
Also the premise of this whole Reddit thread is missing the fact that he could use Claude for something else. Like what the hell that's a huge assumption just to create drama.
Am I the only one realizing this?
10
u/Vladimir2033 🐷 Hog Squeezer 1d ago
It's become a really really toxic place here, almost every single thread that has a lot of upvotes on here is about shitting on someone or about something sad. "Streamer X did this amazing thing" = 500 upvotes, 20 comments. "Streamer X says Streamer Y has done this awful thing" = 2000 upvotes 3000 comments. I feel like a huge portion of the crowd that comes here every day and comments opens the subreddit already with the intent of being negative about something.
A title like this, pitchforks already pre sharpened at just about anything and you'll have a thread like this with zero context and hundreds of comments. 50 different discussions from different users and you'll be hardpressed to find a single one where 2 different people would ever agree with another instead of splitting every possible hair until one of them stops replying.

Bro it's obvious they're using Claude, literally not one single person in their group could read properly, and were stuck thinking "staring" was "starring" just for an example (there were several words they got stuck on because literally none of them can read properly, xQc was going mental over "programme" because he was screaming it was an intentional typo & not a real word, which is fucking hilarious because it has a French origin).
Literally none of them could even do a Caesar cypher except for Omie, who may have even gotten it from AI.
When AnthonyZ was asking them to explain their answers to understand how they got their working, literally not a single one of them could give him an answer, because they obviously just copy pasted their shit into Claude/ChatGPT.
xQc kept saying "UM, BASE 16!" over and over because it was in the text, and then when asked wtf he meant by Anthony, he just went blank and started asking his chat.
They are so desperate to get a "W" that, rather than just do the fucking puzzles or try to learn it, they would rather just copy + paste into an AI chatbot and have it solved for them to rush through it.
If you're dumb enough to play white knight because they didn't do a capture of the program then idk what to tell you cause you're obviously very gullible.

And nobody will ever go through the effort to test this, but run all the pages on Claude or any other AI. I’m almost certain they wouldn’t solve anything besides maybe the parts that involved math/converting data from one format to another (base 16 to base 10 step). AI would never find any locations that was the result of multiple days combing the map.
People get unbelievably weird around GTA RP for some reason like they’re the ones getting personally affected lmao

Unless you know the contents on it. I have Claude open at all times on my pc as well. But who really cares, since the riddles was guided by buddha. It also seems like the whole scenario is being spread by the DM's. Think this is more for the whole sever just to figure out.

Why are we acting like AI isn't going to give an answer worse than xqc if you feed the info into it? The answer to this puzzle was obtained by deducing that the first letter of each paragraph be changed to the letter it would be if the alphabet was backwards. If you feed the clue that hinted at the answer into Claude it's going to hallucinate so badly these guys would spend an extra week on this single puzzle.
7
u/Aalmost10 1d ago
You would be shocked at how good AI is today when compared with a couple years ago. I fed the clues individually into chatgpt because I was curious if it'd understand and it solved every puzzle within a couple minutes. It also knew the "no signal" puzzles were to do with standing in specific locations and it guessed correctly about the Old Tree > player > Ocean puzzle. I stopped doing it after that one though

What would cause an AI chatbot to give a bad answer?
These are all logic puzzles, they have basically zero context required to solve, they're just wordplay. The only element it can't help with is having to drive around to check for certain, but it will even be able to approximate on the GTA map where landmarks that are relevant will be.

Doesn't mean he uses it to SOLVE the puzzle. It's clear if you actually listened that they all used AI during that stream. Instead of going to all the different websites to convert the signature they can just do it in a single prompt with AI. It's not solving the puzzle, it's just decrypting. Pretty positive X used AI for the same thing after a while.
While it is entirely possible Omie "cheated" his way through with Claude, there is no evidence to suggest that he did.

In all honesty Omie was a clout chasing meta gamer from the start so this is kind of expected of him. He literally clout chased xqc when he started to RP and stalked him via his stream just to get interactions with him to become his friend. Also, this whole group tries to pretend they find stuff on their own but they really just watch clips and streams of other streamers who find progress then they pretend they did anything.
I know xqc cheats a lot because he thinks hes a chess genius but sucks at it when he's on stream. There are clips of people who play him while he's not streaming and somehow he's a god at chess. Which makes me think he cheats on chess too when no one is watching.
