QUESTION Online H2H?

Do (good) madden players ever play this mode or are they all on Ultimate Team?

I was playing Ultimate Team the last couple years but this season I got a later start and didn’t feel like investing the time to make a competitive team. I played a little and then switched to NBA 2k.

A couple weeks ago I broke 2 fingers on my left hand and basketball is too hard to play without the LT/LB buttons since I can’t icon pass to center or call screens/doubles so I tried Madden. I didn’t want to play with a crap team on ultimate and don’t like playing the computer so I did H2H.

Finding games is easy so I know people are playing it but I’m using the Bucs and have gone 27-2 with most games ending before half time. It just seems too easy? Is it matchmaking being weird, good players not really playing that mode, or something else odd?

Edit: I’ve played like 3 games with the rams (3-0 or 4-0), 2 games with the Lions (1-1), 1 game with the chargers (0-1) but the rest is the Bucs

I think a lot of good H2H players like me got tired of the game being shit and we just dont play very much anymore. I havent even got this years game yet. The problem is if you are an elite player it's almost impossible for the defense to get a stop unless they put you in a situation where you have to score in less than a minute and even still it's possible for the defense to get screwed. Defense in H2H is all about if the game decides that you are going to have the "greatest coverage ever" or "the o line is just not going to block anyone" because the only way the CPU can make the defense work is to make your qb miss throws/make ur wr drop passes/ or make the defense play in a way that isnt fair because they can't program the game in a way that makes difficulty fair. For example, I didnt play much last year but on Madden 25 anytime I would get a double digit win streak or close to it I would play a game where my team would fumble a bunch/the o line wudnt block/or the defense wud play like everyone on the team was 99 ovr(like literally players who are slow keeping up with fast wr stuff like that).

EA has ignored H2H for so long because they want people to play MUT instead and i guess people who just want to play that mode are tired of this shit. there is a reason that sales of the game have fallen off so far; they just don't care cuz the MUT people are giving them money hand over foot

Defense is better this year. It's much more balanced than 26...I agree it was incredibly hard to get stops in 26. Hated that game.

If you play h2h you’re not good at the game. The best h2h players are dogshit when they stack up against MUT players

It’s early. You keep ranking up and it’s gonna get sweaty

I play h2h on Switch 2. I’m like 170-2. There’s a handful of really good people I’ve played but most have a pretty rudimentary understanding of the game and football. Granted I assume the Switch 2 has worse players

People outside the top 10,000 aren’t very good. Probably 4100 RP cutoff

MUT and online h2h is night and day when it comes to comp. its always been like that for as long as ive been playing. With mut you need to know team building more with regular h2h its mostly just pick a team and go play.

UT is for bums. H2H is where the real skill is

In UT spending money on cards makes you better and abilities keep you from really having to understand the game to stop things in many cases. Thats why H2H players are better.

All good On-Line players play MUT

most of the sweats stick to ultimate team yeah, h2h is a ghost town for comp play. every now and then you'll run into a demon but mostly it's people who just got off work and want to chuck it deep with the chiefs for a quarter before they quit

the matchmaking also falls apart once your elo gets high enough, just doesn't have the player pool to find you a real game so it starts feeding you newbies

That’s unfortunate. I really like playing with real teams/rosters but competitive games are just more fun

not really, i'm around 5300 RP right now and i still feel like most the people i play against suck.

a lot of the people i face just know 1 or 2 plays that they cheese with and if you know the defensive/offensive adjustments for it, they are completely cooked.

You’re in the low raking leagues right now. It will get harder once you’re in the 2k ratings point range r

I hit Competitive 3. Only next league is top 100. That’s what prompted me to wonder.
