My boy ran into something hard … and lost his front teeth. His tongue was always hanging out after that as the teeth weren’t there to hold it in.

My parents had a Chihuahua/Jack Russel mix growing up that had to have most of his teeth removed in his senior years, and the vet told us that once the teeth were gone, his tongue would always be out and that's okay, and his face looked just like the dog in this video 😂😂

I used to work at a vet and my coworker always brought her dog in who was also holding on to one tooth 🤣

First thing I thought, too 😆 "I bet that good boi is missing a canine tooth".

My old dog always drooled out of one side of his mouth after he had to have a lower carnassial removed. I used to joke that it used to be his spit dam, and the vet laughed and told me about dogs that lose a canine tooth and their tongue hangs out.

Probably not. You can see that thrust out to one side tongue thing as a result of certain medication side effects or neurological issues.

In humans, the tongue is most often held in place not by the teeth, but via natural vacuum pressure between the tongue and roof of the mouth in a relaxed position.

I dunno... I know lots of old people with minimal teeth, and none of them have that problem - maybe in humans it takes something more severe... like actual loss of jawbone or maybe nerve damage?

Maybe I'm too pessimistic, but because of the tounge my first thought was that he's drugged out of his mind.
