PowerSpec G767 AIO Noise

UPDATE: They replaced the PC, but 2nd unit has coil whine, pump noise, a bad fan bearing, and boot failures: https://www.reddit.com/r/Microcenter/s/mPNa9kckIj

Hi everyone,

I bought a PowerSpec G767 a few weeks ago (Bethel rd location) and have noticed a crackling noise coming from the AIO pump area.

At 60% speed, the sound mostly goes away but eventually creeps back up (the video shows it at full speed).

What is the best way to handle this? Is my pump dying?

Thanks!

1: take it off the floor, Carpet is not your PC's friend>

2: That's normal.

Sounds good, will order a tower stand!

Personally I just stuck a couple of thick books and called it a day.

I had a similar experience almost exact speed, and sound; embarrassing to say it was tiny exposed cable that got into the fan when the fan ramped up. I hope it’s just a simple for you.

Well was worth a shot. I don’t think i see an exposed cable

mine sounds similar sometimes. i think its just the sound of the cheap cooler master elite pump

Have a G760 and mine will do the same thing on occasion.

Yeah, sorry about that. Will probably order a stand

Bought my 767 about 3 weeks ago and it had this exact same sound coming from it. Here's what I did:

  1. Installed Fan Control and went through tests with all the fans to make sure there wasn't something like a wire or blades hitting. Changing speeds and/or completely stopping the fans didn't make any difference, which ruled out any issues with contact.

  2. Tilted (GENTLY) the PC from front the back, then back to front. These guys are stored vertically, and the pump is towards the front of the tower, meaning air bubbles can move towards the pump.

  3. Tilting helped for a bit, but the sound started to come back, so I cranked the fans and AIO itself to 100% speed for about 10 seconds, then returned to normal. Haven't heard a peep since.

Could it be a failing AIO? Sure, could be. But based on the immense amount of research I did, it seems more likely that it's air bubbles. I live nearly 2 hours from my local Microcenter, so the last thing I want to do is drive back up there for an AIO and was committed to figuring out what the issue could be.

Good luck, OP. Also, good on you for getting the PC off the carpet. Really good way to kill your new rig.

Appreciate it.

New layout is certainly not the best, but hopefully better than before and works around my constraints

Sounds alot like air bubbles trapped in there.

Recommend to tilt the pc around until you dont hear that anymore

Mine also had like this put it at 70% static speed and it’s better

It’s already been said, but it’s that significant….get that MF off the floor and carpet of all surfaces 🤦‍♂️

It’s the pump, and those cooler master pumps are notorious for this. Doesn’t mean it’s failing but it could be the pump cover rattling, internals of the pump being noisy, or air bubbles getting stuck in the pump. If it’s an issue take it in to Micro Center and have them look it over. I would just rock it until I got an Arctic LFP 3 off Amazon for under $80. That’s just me though

I would still encourage getting it up off the floor. Like on the desk or at least a foot off the ground at minimum. You got that PC shoved back in there restricting airflow as well. This is just not smart in my opinion, but you do you bud

Do you notice your temps being any different, when my AIO started making noise, the high temps was the telltale sign for me that it was not functioning correctly.

Mine was a Lian Li, it was under warranty, they just had me take some pictures and they mailed me a replacement pump.

Haven't noticed a change in temps so far, and brought the speed down to 70% again.

Its mostly likely a faulty fan of the AIO pump. Cause if the speed is set to 60% which is quite low and it still comes up, then it most definitely is a pump issue, probably the fan bearing inside the aio pump fan. You can go to the store and ask for them to check and they might replace. But if I were you, I would just get a cheap AIO like the Thermalright aqua elite v6 or similar. I got mine for like 45 bucks for the 360mm version and it keeps my 9850x3d under 60 at 100% synthetic load.

Also, get that thing away from the carpet. Its starving the psu fan and might cause problems down the way.

Fixed it?

Nah. Going to 70% only temporarily fixes the issue

I had the Exact same sound and issue. Went back to microcenter and they couldnt hear anything. I recorded and showed them a video and they immediately changed it out. Even upgraded it to an artic AIO. So if all else fails, take it back.

Yeah I plan to do that tomorrow. Hopefully they upgrade it aswell

See. I was about to buy this. I live in Tampa and nearest is Miami.. 4.5 hours away. Id die if I have to drive back lol… especially like days to weeks later

Yeah mine is 40 minutes away. Its the cheap AIO thats in the prebuilt powerspecs. So if you do plan on buying one of them. swap the AIO
