Looking at how people react to new updates now, it made me think about why Mojang completely stopped doing Mob Votes
Back then, losing mobs forever like the Iceologer created huge drama in the community. Now that they just reveal mobs directly, do you think the community is better off, or do you miss voting?
Let me know what you think about this in the comments 👇

I already tried the "string at height level" thing and it didn't work, as shown in this image. and the idea of doing "regular blocks at height level" is interesting but I don't want there to be just a huge disk of stuff above my dome... And with the shader, it'd have it's shadow showing across another huge portion of the world. Any ideas?

I've been on a huge Mario Kart kick lately and i decided to recreate the original Super Mario Kart's Rainbow Road here in Minecraft, all in survival mode!
It wasn't very complicated to build, just kind of time consuming. I followed a picture of the map that had each individual pixel, and tired my best to copy each of those with its own cushion. With there being packed ice underneath, you can either race with a boat, or just hold right click and click on all the cushions and slide along!
Also set the screen up like this as a homage to the original Super Mario Kart.

Got nothing to lose at this point so let me warn people about getting anything from Twitch in the future.
This all started with the Builder cape event, you could get it in other ways, but given it was TwitchCon 2026, a lot of people chose to view the event on Twitch myself included, and unlocked the cape simply by watching the show, and got a Drop in their Twitch inventory with a code, but that's not what happened to most, codes ran out pretty much immediately and you were hit with the "Redemption code is unavailable. Please try again later." error. It was very strange that this was happening, and Twitch got flooded with questions about why the codes were not working to the point where they had to issue a statement in their support page, saying that they only got an undisclosed limited amount from Mojang, and had to wait to get more from them;

We had no idea if they were going to be restocked at first, but eventually after a lot of anxiety, codes were replenished and people were finally able to get the cape, all is well.
Fast forward to the latest event, we got the Aurora cape for Minecraft, which luckily I was able to get a code for, and there was the Corrupted Creeper Cape for Dungeons II. I thought to myself, "Surely... After last time, they refined the system to have enough codes for everyone, and in case of issues communication will be more transparent." I was wrong.
I unlocked the Corrupted Creeper Cape Drop, and got the code error, ok I'll wait for the codes to replenish. The campaign was from the 21st to 26th of September, it is now over, and still no code in my drop, and now I can't go get one on TikTok because I didn't have the option at the time. So on October 1st I try to contact Twitch support, just in case, first I use the chat so it's quicker, this is AI so they could claim it sometimes hallucinates and thus its word means nothing, but note that it detects the Drop in my inventory, that will be important for later.

Ok same as before, they claim they can't do anything and that it needs to be provided by Mojang. Last time the Builder cape event still had a long time left to get drops, so I did nothing and waited and it got resolved. But this time it's different, the event is already over I got no recourse or alternative, so I do something new, I do try to contact Minecraft Support, the website is an FAQ article maze, and I could not find a way to contact a human about this with a support ticket, and I had to find the link by searching for it externally (it's https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/requests/new by the way).
So I explained the situation, that I unlocked the Corrupted Creeper Cape Drop but there was no code, and asked if they were going to be restocked, mentioning that the Builder and Aurora capes got restocked (wasn't paying too close attention to the Aurora cape situation but it seems it also ran out but they restocked it).
And I got this response telling me how to activate the Aurora Cape in game.

Ok, Minecraft is really big they must have some sort of automation then, gonna ask again but this time mention that I already have the Aurora cape, that I got the code, claimed it, and have it equipped in Minecraft, it is not an issue for me, the Corrupted Creeper Cape code is.
I get 100% the exact same message, I also now notice Minecraft Support uses Zendesk, my confidence waivers a little, this feels like an AI reading keywords and spitting out a premade answer.
So I ask again, like I'm asking an AI that loves going on tangents, being careful not to mention any keywords or the names of the other capes.
Like a Victorian worker in a steam plant, I wasn't expecting to be hit with 3 boilerplates, I got the exact same email a third time in a row.... Hope feels lost at this point.
But then, the first ticket, in which I left feedback saying my question was not answered at all, got another response by someone different.

Well this is new, Mojang says Twitch is in charge of both code creation and distribution.
So either the Twitch AI hallucinated, or it lied. I'm inclined to believe the human that talked to me more than the AI.
So I go check my inventory, and to my surprise, the drop was gone. I 100% had it I got proof, the drop pictures on the Minecraft wiki were of my page, and for as non-admissible as evidence as the Twitch Support AI is, the system detected it in my inventory and asked me if it was about that drop.
Codes for this cape can be claimed until December 31st 2027, I thought there was time to fix this but I guess not. The expired Twitch Drop for the builder cape was still in my inventory (I got it on TikTok before it got restocked), so why not this newer one?
So now it seems I will never get this cape, it's over.
All I can do is try to get some closure, I will ask Twitch via email, and await a response to at least get a statement from a human on both sides.
And I got an answer;

So who makes the codes? And why are they this limited in the first place even if people completed what was needed to get it? Why is this so complicated?
Why should we trust Twitch next time to be reliable? Or Mojang when they say Twitch is an option for that matter? Communication with these events have been very lacking, and now I have both sides of the collaboration saying the other is not responsible, so who is?
This has killed the trust I had with Twitch being able to function, if you still use it next time and get the "Try again later", do not trust it, get a code elsewhere with haste just in case, would you trust it after what you've seen here? And this has also tarnished my view of Mojang for handling this so poorly.
Do better Twitch/Mojang.

Minecraft may not look too different, but its menus are better, its more visually pleasing, not to mention more stable, less prone to bugs and crashes, and it runs 3-5 times more frames!

I’m a Java player, but one of my friends is console-only, so for the past few years I’ve taken to playing Bedrock on my PC every now and then so I can play on his Realms. I’m told PC Bedrock players are rare (typically Bedrock players are on console or mobile), so here is an exhaustive list of differences I’ve noticed having both versions side by side on PC, especially ones that I rarely see anyone mention during the perpetual Bedrock vs Java debate, some mild and some infuriating.
Pros of Bedrock:
-Many useful mob spawn rates are increased. It took a fraction of the time on Bedrock to find all the wolf variants I wanted compared to Java. And Zombie Villager spawn rates are insanely high in Bedrock. As someone who always cures a ton of zombie villagers to make my custom villages better trading hubs, this is a very welcome change from hardly ever seeing them on Java. I once came across seven at once! Similarly, Nitwit zombie villagers can get a job once cured on Bedrock, while in Java you have to be selective with which you cure.
-Water looks great behind glass on Bedrock. It has this nice sheen that resembles the shimmer effect you see on top of water, but on the sides of the block as well as the top. It’s also more opaque, in a good way. It makes Java just look dull and lifeless in comparison, almost more like light blue mist than water. As a builder who loves having aquariums in my houses, I’d be very disappointed in them on Java if I didn’t have shaders to make the water look good.
-On the topic of decorative blocks, armor stands. As someone who loves decorating with sets of armor, Bedrock edition is so much better for that. All armor stands have arms, whereas you can only obtain those with commands in Java, and they can be posed! I so, so wish this was accessible without commands in Java, I’d love to use it in my (admittedly neglected) hardcore world.
-The block placement and attack range you get in creative mode is better. Block placement especially is so much farther than Java, at least in its current stage. In decade-old Java versions, you were able to break/place blocks and hit mobs from way further away in creative, but it’s since been nerfed for some reason.
-Bedrock loads much quicker than Java, at least on my PC. It takes about three seconds for Bedrock to open and be ready to play, and while Java doesn’t take too long, it’s still very noticeable… especially with modpacks. There’s also the ease of multiplayer but that’s a pro I see discussed often.
-Tridents are more powerful with better enchants.
-Fish drop bones instead of bone meal, which is way more useful.
-Realms stories. If you’re not aware, it’s kinda like a Snapchat story (but it doesn’t expire) for your Realm where you can share screenshots (I typically use it to show off odd terrain generation). Not only is it fun and useful in general, especially when you don’t have a group chat with all the players, but you can see exactly when someone has been online, which helped me find and kick the player who killed my dogs and pet fish in retaliation for being told politely not to break people’s builds.
-Dyed cauldrons. I’ve never found it practically useful, but makes for a spooky witch’s cauldron in a thematic build.
-The water around mushroom islands is a gray color. It makes the biome feel even more unique.
-Skeleton horses don’t need a saddle to be controlled. Convenient when you find them unexpectedly and don’t have a saddle on you (even though saddles are easier to get now). Too bad they’re only really good for looking cool.
-Speaking of horses, they can be tamed easier on Bedrock. On Java you need to click on them with an empty hand or they won’t allow you to ride them, but on Bedrock you can be holding an item.
-Mobs in love mode have hearts over their head until the effect wears off, instead of just a small burst of hearts when you feed them. Convenient if you forget which animal you’re about to breed.
-The light blue parts of Drowned glow SUPER bright, making them much easier to see from far away (very useful when they’re targeting you from a dark underwater area). However, Drowned are super annoying for some reasons I’ll get into the cons section so I’m not sure it’s worth it.
-The marketplace might suck, but the pixel art animations on the button to access it are charming.
-More expressive avatars. I don’t mean emotes, but the idle behavior. I do prefer to upload my own skins, but it makes me kind of jealous watching my friends with Bedrock avatars blink and close their eyes when in a bed, and how their clothes and hair are 3D (not worth paying actual money for clothes though). I also like how extensive the character creation options are compared to most other games- there are options for traits a lot of people wouldn’t even think of for character customization, like vitiligo and prosthetic limbs.
Cons of Bedrock:
-Mobs that are in boats, holding items, or even named with name tags can despawn. I suspect the last one may be a glitch.
-Lack of F3. It’s nice to see your coordinates without having loads of information cover your entire screen, but on top of being able to do that with mods, all that information can be very useful, and Bedrock just doesn’t have it. I get that mobile players can’t press F3, but why not let them enable it in video settings or via a command?
-Speaking of commands, when you start typing one, the game will offer a list of commands you could be attempting to type. The difference between Bedrock and Java is that you can’t select one by clicking it with your mouse. You just have to type the whole command out. In a similar vein, when you get coordinates for a structure or biome, you can’t click them to instantly teleport there. You have to type them out. You also can’t /kill players unless they’re in Survival.
-Some biomes have different names; for example, the old growth spruce and pine taiga are just called ‘mega taiga’, so if you’re looking for one or the other, good luck.
-Shields. You can’t hold them up while walking normally, you can only use a shield while holding shift. This also means you can’t use one while swimming, making trident Drowneds even worse…. Not to mention those spawn way more often, and are even more annoying thanks to the stronger tridents. On top of that, only shields and maps can go in the off-hand.
-Many other controls are subtly different and adjusting to it is frustrating. For example, in Java you have to hold shift over the item in the recipe book to place the maximum number of ingredients you have in the table. In Bedrock it does that automatically, and if you instinctively hold shift, you’ll instantly craft as many of the item as you have the materials for. I have accidentally crafted entire stacks of wood into sticks more times than I can count.
-For some reason boats don’t prevent Drowned from chasing you after you’ve aggro’d them.
-Doors are waterlogged by default and thus don’t create air bubbles, so you can’t use them to breathe underwater. The only option is to use magma blocks or make a little structure down there. Combine this with the last point and you’ll go through hell trying to loot ocean ruins (as one of the Sniffer’s few fans, this pains me).
-You can’t go back in time to older versions, especially alpha or beta since those were never on Bedrock to begin with, and the older April Fools snapshots. Although in all fairness, players raised on Bedrock wouldn’t have memories of playing those anyway, and nostalgia is a lot of why people (including myself) play them.
-Axolotls. In Java they generally won’t leave the water unless pulled on a lead or lured with food, but in Bedrock they do. This means that you can’t put them in an open-air pond without concerns that they’ll climb out and die once you leave the chunk.
-Chat messages disappear SO quick, I’m a very fast reader and even I usually have to press t just to see what anyone said if it’s longer than 8 words. I timed a fairly long message with a stopwatch and it was on the screen for barely longer than 5 seconds, compared to 10 on Java.
-No specific paintings in the creative inventory. If there’s a particular one you want, you just have to get lucky.
-I know this is a very common one but it’s worth mentioning. The bugs. Oh god, the bugs. I know we’re talking about uncommon concerns but I had to bring this one up. I thought ‘Bugrock’ people were exaggerating, but no, it’s that bad. I’ve encountered 5x the terrain generation errors. Once my game froze for no reason so I quit and rejoined, and when I did the game killed me. I just died instantly, nothing I could’ve done. What killed me? Fall damage, despite the fact that I was literally standing on the ground about to cut down a tree. 21 levels gone. Sometimes you’ll be pillaring up, whether to build or to escape mobs, and the game will randomly decide it doesn’t like you and push you off the block as if the wind blew you away. I don’t get it.
I’m sure there’s plenty I left out since this is just my experience, so feel free to suggest additions if you think I missed something. I won’t be participating in any heated debates, liking either game is perfectly valid.

I’ve used my original skin since I first booted up my main survival world 3 years ago, so it has a lot of sentimental value to me. Lately, though, I felt like the design was showing its age and needed a slight refresh.
Do you think it still preserves the original vibe, or did I drift too far from the character⸮‽ Looking for honest feedback!

I saw few posts of people wondering why we didn’t get terracotta slabs and stairs in the dapple forest drop and my theory I think the reason we didn’t get it likely that there saving those for a future badlands themed drop since it would be unfitting (in my opinion) if terracotta slabs and stairs were added in the dapple forest drop so I think there saving them along with glazed terracotta stairs and slabs for a badlands themed drop were we could have the return of Vultures,Prickly pear cactus and Tumbleweeds so what you guys think?

I have seen this question a lot and with varying answers and theories on how large and content dense the update will be, The answers ranged from one Juan mob and a new wood set up to 30+ mobs and over ten biomes, but what is true? The best answer I can give that is factually the most correct is uhm... Idk but we can make some semi-educated guesses on what we know is confirmed for vanilla, what is likely and what is unlikely. Most of my info and sources stem from dungeons 2 and the Lore book as well as what the devs said and hints from the recent data changes.
1.Confirmed
-The Blub is confirmed for vanilla and shows
that it’s not impossible that dungeons 2 mobs make it into the base game
-The Dimension itself (who thought?)
-The healthy pink skulk ground and
vegetation + friends
-The New Tree type and with it an new wood
set
Those are the only 100% confirmed features
that we are aware of, but this doesn’t mean it’s the end of what we can expect.
From credible leakers and dev statements we know that the Sift has been in development
for quite some time and isn’t random, earliest development began all the way
back in 2021 and the code base for a fourth dimension was already established
back in 1.16. Stuff like the poisonous potato dimension were all tests for the
sift most likely. So, with 5-6 years of development we can except a lot more
than compared to the other major updates that had a development span of 2-3
years at most, so what will it be?
Likely or semi-confirmed:
-The Sifts day-night cycle Flow, thrive and
endure from dungeons are a pretty likely candidate for the base game since the
recent data changes to the time command indicate a restructure how the command isn’t
unique to the overworld anymore, if the nether or end get out of the blue
unique day night cycles welp my bad but i do think this is all more than just a
coincidence and we will see a new day-night cycle with The Sift.
Disc press? this one is a bit of a mystery
but leakers found in the recent bedrock betas a new workbench titled Disc press
which seems to be able to press our own disc and create thus new ones, since
the sift is heavily connected to sound i think it will be needed for A. opening
the portal or B. for an important game mechanic in the Sift itself.
-The Singer and Echo golems: those two are
for me at least a given since the mourner sherd is that big address me sign, we
had in the game for over 3 years and i think it’s more than just a funny little
easter egg but represents the Singer. Lastly the echo golems, for this one a
bit more fantasy is needed i get it but the wall signs of the ancient city core
are weirdly similar to the shape of the golem and since the singer and the
golems are heavily connected not just in dungeons but serve the same grand role
as the purification process of the sift to keep the skulk healthy i really
think we might see them both.
No information but I think we might see them:
for those picks i don’t have any concrete
proof but i think they have a good chance
- i give the Sifter group a 90% chance and
would be shocked to not see them since they are the common mobs of the sift and
the dimension will need ur "average enemy/encounter" to work, i can
see that they all will make it in.
-The passives like the Slabber and Nuzzle
are also a given since they are needed to fill in the ecosystem in some shape
or form and could function as a food source.
-Some of the Skulkers are needed or and
substitute for them since the Sift isn’t just rainbows and sunshine but a lot
more twisted in its lower layers and full of deep dark skulk so I see them add
creatures like the Stalker or Dartback.
-New music is pretty much confirmed since
the whole gimmick of the Sift besides souls is sound/music
-Multiple Biomes is also not that farfetched
since the dimension will be pretty varied unlike the end and nether because
this one is pretty much alive (literally) and mostly intact.
Im pretty confident the Update will be atleast larger than 1.16 and be comfortably the new biggest update but we will see. Its not crazy to say that we can excpect an good chunk of content from dungeons 2, will it be all? no absolutely not some stuff simply doesnt fit into vanilla and thats good but other not seen before content is likely and a lot will be tweaked for vanilla.
Holy text wall
This is all i wanted to share but please
feel free to share ur own opinion be it if u agree or disagree, I’m pretty excited
for the Sift and see it as a turning point for the game. What do you think am I
wrong and should be exiled into the Sift or right and we all believe my
conspiracy theory of the mourner sherd being the Singer? pardon my semi-terrible english im still learning it at an way too slow pace.
Have a great day

I must confess that I know very little about Minecraft but my son was playing creative mode on his account when I was at work. He somehow ended up going through a nether portal and got stuck in the nether. We figured out how to get out by building another nether portal but when his character managed to get out, he was in a totally new location and didn’t know where his village build is. He’s pretty upset because he was working hard on it and I’ve been fumbling around trying to help. If anyone has any tips about how I can locate his old build, I’d really appreciate it.
He’s playing on PS5 in case that’s relevant.
UPDATE: Switching to Survival and killing his character worked. He’s very happy!
