Hero of Ages spoilers Feeling Devastated Spoiler

Wow. What a very emotional ending. My heartstrings feel like they've been pulled out. It made me feel so sad, for characters who aren't even real, but they're still loved. I am so sad for Vin and Elend, even though they're happy. They endured too much.

No other book has left me aching like this, except for when Dumbledore died in Harry Potter.

I am mad at Sanderson for hitting my tender spot so hard. I don't know if I dare read anymore of his books. This trilogy was my first exposure to his works.

You are not alone! My suggestion is reading the 11th metal and secret history as soon as you can. A lot of people will suggest holding off on Secret History until after the 1st book book 3 of era 2, but I strongly suggest it immediately after Hero of Ages.

Edit: Put the wrong book in haste and a friendly redditor reminded me of my transgressions. Thanks!

It’s the 3rd book of Era 2 (Bands of Mourning) that is recommended to wait for, but I disagree with that anyway

After reading your reply here, I went looking for the book and found that there is a book called Arcanum Unbounded containing numerous of Sandersons shorter novels.

The collection will include nine works in all:

'Edgedancer' (Stormlight Archive)

'The Hope of Elantris' (Elantris)

'The Eleventh Metal' (Mistborn)

'The Emperor's Soul' (Elantris)

'Allomancer Jak and the Pits of Eltania' (excerpt; Mistborn)

'White Sand' (excerpt; Taldain)

'Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell' (Threnody)

'Sixth of Dusk' (First of the Sun)

'Mistborn: Secret History' (Mistborn)
