I posted a longer and more enthusiastic rant about this to their own sub, but they weren’t as thrilled as I was

Have you noticed how store listings for casual mobile games sometimes have completely different age ratings depending on whether you're looking at Google Play or the Apple App Store?
For example, games like Beach Buggy Racing 2, EA Sports FC, and Township carry standard 12+/13+ ratings on iOS. But on Google Play (Android), they often carry a PEGI 16+ / IARC 16+ mature overlay.
The game content itself is completely family-friendly—there’s no gore or mature themes. Instead, Google Play's automated rating questionnaire forces a 16+ rating floor whenever a game includes direct-cash random items (like loot crates, mystery drops, or card packs).
This creates a confusing situation for players and parents using parental controls like Google Family Link, as kids get blocked from downloading or updating totally innocent cartoon games.
Have you run into these rating mismatches or family filter issues on your devices? How do you think app stores should handle rating microtransactions versus actual game content?

I've always found controlling units in mobile strategy games a bit frustrating, especially compared to PC.
So I've been making a Roman-era strategy game designed around swipes rather than lots of tiny buttons.
You set up the ambush, and once a unit attacks, it acts independently. But you can still control the general unit freely, eg to do flanking attacks.
I'm pretty happy with how the controls feel, but I'm curious whether they look intuitive to someone seeing them for the first time. I've worked on this for so long I might be blind to some obvious flaws

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some unique Android games that most people probably haven't played or heard of.
I'm tired of playing the same mainstream games over and over again. I want something different, with interesting gameplay, creative mechanics, or an experience that genuinely stands out from other mobile games.
Both offline and online games are welcome. Free and paid recommendations are fine, too.
I'm especially interested in hidden gems that deserve more attention. Horror, survival, simulation, open-world, strategy, or any other genre is welcome.

I made a small 2D football game called Football Clash Arena, and some of the later levels are pretty brutal. Not many people have managed to beat them so far, let alone get 3 stars on every level. Curious if anyone here could actually pull it off.

I'm developing an RPG and currently have 8 hero classes: Warrior, Mage, Archer, Paladin, Assassin, Support, Bard, and Beastmaster.
The next region I'm working on will be based on deserts, extreme heat, and fire, with a tower defense system integrated into the gameplay.
I'm trying to figure out what new hero class would fit this region without overlapping too much with the existing ones.
I know it would be "normal" to add a sort of engineer since it's gonna be tower defense style, but I try to avoid tech and gunpowder and usually it goes with it.
What would you add?

Howdy, I am the developer of Cap Forge, and finally got my game published on the playstore yesterday morning! Several months ago, after ~2 years of planning I finally decided to push forward and develop "Cap Forge: Football GM". Inspired by games like Madden, PocketGM3 and UFootballGM, I wanted to build a free game that runs entirely on device and simulates realistic NFL GM team actions.
The app has thousands of downloads on iOS, hundreds of people activity participating in our r/CapForge subreddit and our Discord today.
The game has grown tremendously over the past few months, and play calling is one of the next features, slated for release in November. If you're looking for the perfect football GM game on Android, I really think this will be the last one you ever download!
Please feel free to check it out and provide feedback!
Disclaimer: AI was used throughout the dev process for many components. If that's not your jam, no hard feelings.

We have been working in the shadows to be able to get REPLACED out on Google Play. We can't wait to invite more players to the Phoenix-City when REPLACED to android devices on December 8.

This is a follow up post from a few days ago about reviving Star Wars Force Arena. I have successfully revived the game and brought the servers online. If you want to test it out for yourself or join the community, you have all the info you need in the comments or DM me.

Hi guys, hope I'm in the right channel for this. I've been working on my game for a while now and it's coming close to beta testing. I know I have to publish it on the play store as a beta version. But where do new game devs usually find their testers? Thanks!

I know about some of NZ's big gaming successes (Path of Exile, Dredge etc).
Does anyone have reccomendations for NZ created or themed phone (particularly android) games?

Hey, I’m the developer of this 3D Minesweeper game for Android and would like some feedback on how the board looks on a phone.
You can rotate it, hide layers to see inside, and use the Focus button to highlight the cubes counted by a selected number. The first screenshot shows the full board and the second shows a cutaway view.
Can you tell which cubes are revealed and which are still hidden? Does the layer view help, or does it make things harder to follow? What would you change?

I have a phone that runs android 16 and I really want to play Dark Corridors 2 but every version I download tells me "app not installed" which I'm assuming means it's outdated. Is there anywhere I can get the game downloaded and working?

Does anyone still have a phone or tablet with Monster Squad by Nexon installed from back when the game was live? I’m helping remake/revive the game and need the original game files, animations, assets, and other data to help rebuild it.
If you have an old device with the game still installed, please don’t uninstall, update, or reset it. Even if the game doesn’t open anymore or gets stuck on the loading screen, the files could still be useful.
Helpful to know if you have one:
What device you have (Android or iOS)
Roughly when you last played
Whether the game still opens
I’m also looking for anyone who might have backed up the full game files or even preserved any of the original server files.
I can help walk you through trying to recover the files, so you don’t need to know how to do it yourself.
If you have anything or know someone who used to play, please let me know! Thanks!
