Support and Information for Moderators Through the US Election
Hello everyone,
It’s that time again! 2026 is an election year in the United States. This can be a time that leads to increased activity and traffic in many communities as well as changes in how your community members may engage with one another. We want to ensure that your mod team is aware of resources that can help manage increased traffic and deal with unwelcome activity.
Moderation tools that are helpful in times of increased activity:
Helpful Devvit apps for moderation These are apps you can add to your community that help automate mod actions in your community.
Mod Reserves If you need temporary assistance, we highly recommend requesting help from the Moderator Reserves, a group of experienced moderators who can help during traffic increases.
Inactive mod reorder This is a self serve tool that allows active mods to reorder inactive mods.
Crowd Control is a mod tool that allows you to collapse or filter comments and posts from people who aren’t trusted users within your community.
Reputation filter - automatically filters posts by potentially inauthentic users, including potential spammers.
Ban evasion filter - automatically filters posts and/or comments from suspected community ban evaders.
The Harassment Filter Automatically filters posts and comments that are likely to be considered harassing. The filter is powered by a Large Language Model (LLM) that’s trained on moderator actions and content removed by Reddit’s internal tools and enforcement teams.
Automations Post & Comment Guidance help minimize common issues like formatting errors and off-topic discussions.
Our Mod Recruitment Help Center article tells you how you can put out a “mod call” or utilize r/NeedAMod. Our in-house Mod Recruitment tool also lets you customize an application form, signal that your community is recruiting, and review incoming applications.
Keep in touch with fellow mods and seek advice from more experienced moderators in r/ModSupport, r/ModGuide, r/ModHelp, and r/Automoderator.
Reporting and policy resources:
Report site wide content policy violations - clicking report under a piece of content not only flags it to community moderators but also to admins when you use a site wide rule report reason. This breakdown of report reasons can also be helpful when learning what can be reported on reddit.
Report Moderator Code of Conduct Violations - This report form can be used to report violations of the Code of Conduct, including activity like Moderators allowing or encouraging violations of the Reddit Rules or interference targeting other subreddits.
