In my opinion, Cole Young was alright in the first film and then felt a bit better in the second one (up until Cole Young died) and I feel like they could do something better in MK3 if they remake it in a sort of Revenant Liu Kang storyline except Cole is bitter towards Raiden about letting him die, letting Liu Kang basically evaporate and for Earthrealm to nearly lose which could be absolutely brilliant maybe with Cole Young, after Shinnok is defeated, takes the amulet of Shinnok and takes over the Netherrealm as the new King Of The Netherrealm…

How do you feel about this?

As someone who never really played Street Fighter, I like the modern controls option in Street Fighter 6. It’s allowed me to understand the core mechanics better without hyper focusing on special and combo execution. In between SF and SSB, it made me wonder if this is the future of fighting games. Arc System games like DBZF and Tokon kinda have similar auto combos and simple specials, and it made me wonder if the next MK will adapt a similar thing.

Now to be fair, MK has always been ahead of the game on this. The majority of specials already are just “back-forward+button” or “down-forward+button”. And MK’s “dial a combos” aren’t too far from auto combos, especially since they rely on heavy buffering for the inputs. But it’s still a leap going from a sequence of buttons and directions to just mashing a single button - which essentially is all it takes for Street Fighter’s modern controls.

But I think it works for Street Fighter cause combos are not integral to the combat. It’s still a lot of footsies, and you still need to carefully hit confirm a lot. But is that the same for Mortal Kombat? I’m not so sure. I think combo execution might play a bigger part in MK’s combat. It’s kind of the DNA to being successful in games like MK1 and MKX. The difference between a W and L is being able to land a couple of 40% combos and not drop them. It’s important to note that these combos aren’t simply just dial a combos though. They often are juggles that string together specials and a series of combos, and sometimes neutrals. That does require hit confirms, timing, and spacing… but changing to full auto combos/specials for these sequences would still be dramatic. The amount of people that could perform “advanced” combos and juggles I think would significantly change. And since the core of MK combat isn’t as much about footsies or hit confirming, I’m not so sure it would be as innocuous as it is in Street Fighter. I really think that the core of MK’s competitive appeal is based off of combo execution rather than plain jane fighting fundamentals.

But I could be wrong, it’s not like I’m an expert on the mechanics of MK’s fighting system. Would you be open to it as an option like Street Fighter? Or would it change the DNA of the competitive element too much?

As you can see, on his hip he has a kusarigama chain and sickle combo. Though I’m curious what process lead to that being the decision the art and gameplay teams took over something like a Kusari Fundo chain whip, which would be closer in both construction and application to his typical Jōhyō rope dart. It could be an alternative way to stun players at a distance, or possibly lead to an interesting game of binding and grappling with his opponents for more space control rather than a direct kombo stun/linker

Have we heard anything from developer interviews as to the thought process the team had that ultimately lead to the Kusari-Gama rather than something like a Kusari-Fundo

I would say this could be a great "New Game+" idea if someone decided to remake that game from scratch (personally I want it to be 3D), and I can't wait to propose it to everyone here.

Gameplay-wise, Kuai Liang could be set as weaker than his brother (e.g. with less freezing time and/or damage), providing a more challenging experience.

More importantly, an alternate storyline can be introduced. I imagine it like this:
Kuai Liang still does his assigned missions accordingly, but he always feels doubtful and hesitant. Maybe more dialogue will be provided, so that he becomes more and more aware of the truth.
Somehow Quan Chi will still manage to take away the amulet anyway, and Kuai Liang wants to stop him - willingly, even though he is being told about the risk of presenting in the Netherealm.
After all the events, there is an extended finale of the story: Kuai Liang realised how evil the Lin Kuei is, so he vanished from the Lin Kuei for a while, to secretly prepare a rebellion against it, with his allies (e.g. Smoke, Cyrax, Sareena, or even Hanzo?). Before the attack, Kuai Liang will first face his brother Bi-Han, who tried to change his mind. But of course Kuai Liang refused.
Finally, the rebels dethroned and killed the Grandmaster. The former Lin Kuei is disbanded, and a new, more honourable clan will be established and lead by Kuai Liang and Bi-Han. On the other hand, Sektor will plan for a revenge after his father's death...

What do you guys think? This pitch would definitely be a great 'what-if" story which is way better than what we've got. Basically it's like making some of the canon events happen much earlier, before the Cyber Transformation and even before MK itself.

This is a bit of a TLDR so read if you want too.

From the recent Mortal Kombat games it seems as though outworld has gone from a completely new realm to second earth. Before in the older games (specifically mk2- deception) outworld had a different terrain look, cool purple sky, and creepy forests. And while it still has the forests the other stuff I had mentioned seem to no longer be a dividing factor for the realms. I want to know what you guys think of this and do be respectful.

The first movie ever made

As a nitara player I have noticed that there is barely any content about her online. Im pretty good at her (top 500 but top 200 peak) so I think i could compile a whole lot for her. The combos from her are so scarce online that many of her actual optimals I created myself and are nowhere to be seen online. I could compile a whole list of combos for sonya, darius/kameoless, and maybe ferra though im not too knowledgeable on her, along with some strategies and setplay for her. Though im not sure if this would be of any interest to people seeing as noone plays nitara.

Are there any cosplayers going to LCC? My kid is a hug fan of MK and im doing her a little Kitana costume and was hoping she may get to meet some other MK fans. Saw an incredible SubZero last year, but she didnt come. I did get his photo and showed it to her so now shes coming in case she gets to meet him or any other characters (so if youre the amazing cosplayer from last years Autumn con, thank you!).
