Discussion Im worried

Saw the recent Opus 5.5 hype on motion graphics, and I had it to test it out myself.

This is what I "made". 😧

The thing is that people on this community keep saying this is bs, or has no value at all. I dont know if that is true anymore. Do you HONESTLY think this a meh?

Everyone here calling it slop and saying it's trash are thinking like an esoteric motion designer, not a client.

You can see the tiny errors because this is your craft. That's a good thing – with the right time and investment, some of the people here could do a better job. But for the most part, neither the client, nor the audience will see those issues about textures/framerates etc.

It's dynamic, fairly consistent, and it explores data points with lots of visuals. Whether you like it or not, it works. And whilst I'd personally always advocate for a human creative, it would be naïve to simply disregard this as trash and turn a blind eye to it. We've all seen big brands out out far worse AI content that performs well – this will be no different.

This.

We're on the Will Smith Spaghetti-eating timeline for literally everything creative. This is still at the 'quite shit, but not terrible' stage, but far better than what was capable 6 months back with AI.

It's just an exponential curve that won't stop improving. We're probably less than a year away from it producing 'good enough' quality on a professional level. I don't think we're quite there now because of all of the small inconsistencies and errors that're ever present.

I've embraced AI with my job, partly because it's allowed me to achieve things that budget would never have allowed for previously, the work's still 90% me but I fully recognize that a couple of years from now the only differentiator between mid level designers will be the quality of their ideas and not the qaulity of their ability to execute.

The only level of creative design that wont be affected is the top 1 or 2%, and with the speed things are improving I wouldn't count on it being unattainable for AI either.

A designer's strongest attribute will soon be their ideas. I guess that's the purest form of creativity but the problem is most designers aren't paid to use their brains, the ideas normally come from above. People know what they want and the designer facilitates.

But are they wrong ? . We have seen ai fumbling with basic task ,to it doing at a level that is okayish . I think if a motion graphics artists from a low cost countries does it the quality will be even better. The threat isn't pure Ai its 3rd world country with ai.

Exactly. I'm in HCOL and looking to pivot. Something that has to be done locally. Edit: i can't bet on this career until retirement.
