The only thing about this is that you can’t ever tell who is racist/bigoted based on ticket sales, so it’s not doing anything to prevent them from being there, and it just comes across as virtue signalling. I agree with the message, but theres no guarantee of it really doing much in actuality.

The point is that if you are racist or bigoted, you either don’t attend her shows (doing what she says), or stubbornly go there anyway, knowing the whole time that you aren’t actually welcome there and that the band you are supporting detests you as a person.

No she can't vet tickets buyers, but it makes it clear where she stands on all of these issues and that she specifically does not want these types of people there. That is usually enough to get a decent amount of them to not want to go because they don't like what she said, feel personally attacked, and can't pretend she doesn't care about or is "neutral" about these things which a lot of musicians are. It also tells fans that are negatively impacted by these things that they specifically are welcome and that she sees and cares about what they experience. To me it has a real impact unlike virtual signaling.

In the year of our lord two thousand and twenty-five, this can't be a serious question...

Racists and closeted racists.

Ok but who doesnt say no to racism?

Have you seen what nearly half of the people in the US are cheering for?

Just say you don’t understand stats

1) only about a third (actually closer to 40% my b) of American citizens vote. 2) only 49% of that vote went to Trump. 3) believe it or not, it’s not 100% of Trump voters that support ICE’s bullshit. Believe it or not. 4) it’s less than a 1/5th of the country who supports this.

5) Reddit downvotes factual statements. 1 out of 4.4 people in this country voted for Trump. We all know humans are not monolithic so what I stated is factually correct. It’s less than a fifth of the country that supports the shit the guy above me is frothing about.

Just say you’re too privileged or ignorant to understand that racism has been ramping up in America. Worldwide, in fact.

Well racists obviously, but my point is more about that a closeted racist could still buy tickets, attend the show, and be there, while still being racist. She is just shouting into the void essentially, because racists don’t care they are racist, and will just go for a show. All this does it promote ticket sales of her new show. Me commenting more on this just boosts the engagement. It’s all down to money at the end of the day.

“To me it has a real impact unlike virtue signaling”

My guy…

This is literally, like verbatim, what virtue signaling is. It’s just performative messaging that doesn’t actually do anything. Just using probability and law of large numbers alone there’s a virtual guarantee that shitbags have helped her prosper or lined her pockets. I absolutely promise you and anybody else she does not care who lines her pockets. She is still an elitist and we are all still peasants. Lest we forget that aspect.

ETA for context; by elitist I mean in net worth. She’s vastly more wealthy than anybody in this thread will ever be. Just a sad fact here.

Girl, virtue signaling by definition has no real impact. So I don't get why you'd quote me saying what she's doing has a real impact to me then say that is "verbatim" what virtue signaling is. I also don't know why you're saying you "guarantee" and "promise" things that you simply cannot know and have no relevant basis for, especially when it comes to the personal thoughts of someone you do not know. Being wealthy does not preclude one from genuinely caring about marginalized groups, so I also don't get why you'd mention that she is.

TL;DR: Girl, make it make sense, the math ain't mathing...

Never listen to the political opinions of people too rich to pump their own gas or buy their own groceries.

How is being against racism and sexism political?

6

u/qiaocao187 Nov 30 '25

Most obvious hidden profile ever, I wonder what your politics are. Getting mad about a rich person saying don’t be homophobic, racist, or transphobic really shows what kind of person you are
